El Trompo is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I frequent the Stone Creek Plaza location at least once every week. My usual order is the Taco Chingones with fried fish — and I’ve never ordered anything else from this establishment because it’s always been perfect for me as a pescatarian. However, earlier today, I was disappointed. When my entrée was brought out, I immediately noticed that the fish was grilled instead of fried. I called a server over to try and fix the situation, and the server initially attempted to tell me that the fish was fried. However, it was clearly grilled, not fried. I was then told that they could not substitute or exchange anything from my meal. The server also stated that the fish is the same whether it’s grilled or fried. However, I explained again that I had specifically ordered fried fish, and that I do not like the taste of the grilled fish. Fish is the only protein option I am able to eat here, and it’s always been prepared the way I requested in the past. I asked to speak to a manager multiple times, but was ignored by several staff members. In the end, I didn’t eat my meal at all. I expressed that I was dissatisfied and requested that the meal be taken off my bill. Unfortunately, I was told that removing a meal isn’t something they do, though they did offer a $7 discount. I ultimately had to pay for a meal that I did not order and could not eat. I left feeling extremely disappointed. El Trompo has been a restaurant I’ve supported and spent a lot of time and money at, so it was upsetting to realize that nothing could be done to rectify a simple mistake, especially for a regular customer. I truly hope they work on their customer service, because this experience was very disheartening.

I don't know if it was the time frame that we arrived (4pm), but we were not greeted at the door, and we stood there for a while, so we walked on in. Someone did start walking towards us, and we asked, "Can we sit anywhere?" We found a spot and sat down closest to the door since my daughter is disabled. We sat there for quite some time before somebody finally got us menus and silverware but never offered us anything to drink. After waiting a longer time, my husband had to wave somebody down to get something to drink. The menu is pretty impressive, and the drink menu is excellent! My husband loved his meal. It was something different than what we are used to, and we love to travel to different Mexican restaurants to try them out. Since it was Taco Tuesday, my daughter and I had the tacos. They were packed with a fair amount of meat, which was nice but only a sprinkling of lettuce and some cheese on top and no sauce to put on it, which was a little disappointing. We weren't even offered salsa. The presentation of the drinks alone is something to come for! It tickled my daughter pink, and my husband and I actually enjoyed the presentation ourselves.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here , and I can't express enough how wonderful my experience was. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting, setting the stage for a delightful lunch. Our waiter, Jocelyn, truly made the night memorable with her exceptional service. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The drinks were nothing short of excellent, perfectly crafted and refreshing. Each sip was a testament to the skill of the mixologist. As for the food, the quality was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was prepared with care and bursting with flavor, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jocelyn for her remarkable service and to the kitchen staff for their delicious creations. This experience has left a lasting impression, and I can't wait to return for another wonderful meal. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and even better service! DRINKS ARE BOMB!!

The food was great, and I believe the servers were working hard as the place was packed (A Saturday night), but we could have had a better experience. It was so loud, we were barely able to talk. Between birthday yelling, drink delivery, the DJ, all the people, it was loud. We were seated kind of in the back, which wasn't as bad. There were all kinds of lights going as well. We had trouble holding a conversation, which is why we get togehter for food. The night would have been overwhelming for anyone who struggles with sensory overload. The fireworks with the drinks was cool, but I could see the Fiesta atmosphere a bit much for some. Again. Maybe we just picked the worst night.

The server started off doing really well, but we had to track her down for our checks and then didn't see her again. She was pleasant and attentive until then. I understand she was probably being pulled 12 directions or needed a break.

Every time one of the kitchen/ server helpers brought food, they didn't know where the food was going. I'm not sure everyone got the right food around us. We were all discussing amoung ourselves who's food was whos... again, the space was just a bit chaotic. All the parts didn't know what the others were doing. One of our meals was missing the correct side garnish the menu said it should have, or we were confused about it, and a Manger looking guy came over and checked on us, and he brought back the wrong side, so we believed, and he confirmed when we asked him, then left to go get the right and never came back. We finally caught another guy who happened to come by, and he got my buddy a box and the proper side to go. The other friend thinks he was supposed to get tortillas with his dish, but we realized too late and it was too hard to figure out.

The menu was really nicely done. More like an Applebee's menu more than a traditional Mexican menu. It read more like a cheesecake factory menu though. I found it hard to navigate and digest as they have so many, and seemingly good looking, options. I found it just a bit more cumbersome.

Again, the atmosphere was fun, but a bit much. I think they have the Fiesta vibe down, but things didn't seem to tie together well between the continuity between staff. Again, it was a crazy night and it's probably good they team serve, it just wasn't coming togehter for us. I am definitely not opposed to trying another time/ day, or possibly location to see if things are better. It could also be because they're new.

On the food side, my friends really liked the chips and salsa. The chips were good thick chips. I thought the salsa was kind of bland and the chips extra crunchy, but they both really liked them. They were definitely quality. My vegetarian friend said his dish lacked much flavor. My dinner was alright, but their prices seemed pretty high for what you got. You get much better food for the price at Cancun and yoher restaurants.

I think this is a great place to visit, and I would recommend it. Just know you may be walking...

So this place is unbelievable they allow certain people to over drink or even get completely drunk Even if they are with a minor child now I have brought this to the attention of the staff and manager's but it seems like south of the border they don't care if you drink and drive with a minor child now I am the type of person that doesn't care I will call you out if you do something like this so this is where I tell you what the guy looks like and what he is driving. Now this is a skinny white man longer grey almost 2 tone grey hair looks and talks like a hippie... He will sit for hrs drinking and getting drunk then low and I do mean low and behold he will stager out to his red almost burgundy Nissan rogue now people you will be able to identify this Nissan rogue because it looks like he's been so drunk he's backed into things several times there was bright orange duct tape on the driver side back bumper I'm sure you can't miss it along with all the dents in the car from I'm sure a lot of free time up here and a lot of time's has a under age child with him now I have kids and I would place her around 14 or 15 years she is blonde and pretty for a kid her age now she looks embarrassed when this happens but I the man just ignores her completely so I am sorry to say that the young lady loses every time in the step I management don't care that he leaves with her in this inebriated state so I have notified the police when he left this location one day drunk out of his mind and driving home unfortunately the police do not seem to ever get damn fast enough because they have other important matters to attend to apparently so people do everyone a favor like they say on TV if you see something say something Good luck....

So I just got a message from someone who I'm guessing runs the store. And they are saying they will address it. I really hope they do !!! I see this man in there all the time and thank God here lately he has not had the young lady with him but I even seen him in there today when I was there at 1:30 and when he left he went straight to his car and try to drive home ! I really do hope they look in to this with there staff and fix the problem...
