I would typically not write a review quite this early for any particular business. However, for Anytime Fitness, I'm making an exception.
My first inquiry into the gym began back on August 18, 2016. On August 19th, I had a reply from Clint Frazier. Clint and his lovely wife, Jenn Frazier, own Anytime Fitness. From that point on, on a close to daily basis, Clint and I emailed back and forth. I became a member on September 21st (mostly due to my work schedule).
Clint answered every single question I had whether it was goofball crazy or not. All of my friends know all too well that when I'm researching, I go DEEP and I go third-degree before I part with my money. I don't recall throwing any "gotcha" questions, but Clint didn't hesitate to tell it like it is every time I threw something at him.
Leaving a gym I'd belonged to for 10 years was going to be really difficult for me. I'd fostered relationships with so many people. Now, I was starting over to meet the needs of my new work schedule. My shift is 3 PM to 11 PM. And I know I'm NOT getting up in the morning to workout. So I needed a 24 hour gym.
One of the most important questions I threw at Clint was a whopper of a question: "What do you say to someone that is also looking at Planet Fitness but could take it or leave it?" Not only did he take that seriously, he nailed it. He never bad mouthed PF but, he was quite clear that there is a DISTINCT difference between the two facilities. Even after asking him so many other questions about rates, fees, payment info, free trials, hard sells, etc., etc., etc., that was the one question I wanted the straightest answer for. And I didn't throw that curve ball right away. Frankly, he had the patience of Job with me. I'm not easy to win over.
This facility is SPOTLESS. I've told everyone who has asked me that I can take a white glove to that entire gym and easily find nothing dirty. The gym as a whole, the machines, the weights, the auxiliary equipment, etc. are IMMACULATE.
Frankly, I feel wonderfully at home in a place that is still new to me. Most of the people are still complete strangers. Most of the faces are not faces I recognize. But it's really comfortable there. I plan on being there for a good, long time.

Read moreI had previously experienced a bad auto accident and spent the following years doing everything my doctors told me to do. Most of the treatments were not effective, and a couple went wrong, leaving me with nerve damage and muscle atrophy compounded by psychological challenges. It wasn't until I found the right providers and advocated for myself instead of simply doing what I was told that I started to notice improvements in my health. I am in the lucky position to have a PCP who supports my decisions to experiment with "unorthodox" treatments regarding my care so long as they are beneficial to me and do not cause further harm. Anytime Fitness, specifically my personal trainer Hunter, is a large part of the story where my health and quality of life started to improve. He challenged me, but at a pace that was informed by my history of physical trauma, my fluctuating mental health challenges, his personal/professional experience, and science. After having been with Anytime Fitness and Hunter for almost two years now, needing to have a safety plan for a walk with my dog or pick up a package at my doorstep is a thing of the past. I have regained most control over the areas of my life that are immediately within my control, and I continue to work towards reclaiming the other parts of myself with the support of Hunter and my other providers. I am grateful to have met him and everyone who is part of the Anytime Fitness team. Everyone who works there is supportive and caring, and I am happy to be included in their family. MOVEMENT IS...
Read moreThe staff almost never answers the phone. So if you ever lose anything, need any info, want a replacement key-card, need to change account info, etc, then you have to go there in person. The rates are ridiculous.. $70 dollars a month!, and with contracts that lock you in and make it very difficult to terminate! There are gyms in the area that are open 24/7 most of the week and charge $25 a month with No long-term contracts and give you free tanning, free massage chairs, showers... also this place is tiny and so you're always bumping into people and saying, "oops sorry, sorry excuse me", and waiting for equipment to open up. In short, Not a good value for the money at all. You can find better and much less expensive options in the State College/ Bellefonte area... at least until they price their rates more fairly and give better member service with communication. They should cut their rate by about 40% at least. Most of their reviews here are from present and past employees/owners and their friends - That is how they were able to show pictures when the gym was Empty and no...
