When there are so many options of downtown living to chose from in Columbia you would think they were all pretty comparable. You would be wrong. The Lofts, both on 308 S Ninth and the Broadway, stand far above the competition. "The Lofts" is synonymous with luxury living in Como. With lofted ceilings in every room and jacuzzi tubs in every bath its hard not to feel like you're at a spa instead of a college apartment.
My location at 308 S Ninth really couldn't be better. Living above both Walmart Express and International Tap House really just spoils you to death.
And if accommodations and location alone aren't enough to blow you out of the water, the staff will. Managers Abbie and Kelly are the faces and heart of this establishment and they couldn't be better at their jobs. Anytime you walk into the office one of them will be there to greet you with a smile and be ready to help with whatever you might need. (A far cry from brookside management which is all college kids). Kevin, the resident man for all things handy is always one maintenance report away from fixing anything and everything that could go wrong (or you might have accidentally broken). He is often the same day you report it, his efficiency is astounding.
Lastly when it comes to safety nothing NOTHING compares to the lofts. Key fobs on every entrance and a security guard at the front door from 9pm till 5 am every night. He's not only there to keep people out but to tell your neighbors to keep it down when they wake you up with a dance party in the middle of the night.
If you're looking for an apartment in Columbia there is really no reason to...
Read moreI subleased at 308 Ninth over the summer while my current apartment was under construction, and I have nothing but good things to say. First, the apartments are huge. The bedroom was as big as my bedroom back home (in a house) and the walk in closet had super high ceilings and enough built in shelves and clothing racks for everything you own. The countertops are nice granite, and the tub has jets in it. The provided cable TV is great. It's Century Link and you get all the good channels in HD and can record shows.
The only negative I had was that my particular unit was on the second floor (the first level with apartments) and my porch had the exhaust from the Moe's kitchen pointing directly at it, meaning you can't leave the sliding glass for open on nice days unless you want your apartment to smell like grease.
Management is more than awesome! Particularly Abbie was available any time of day if there were problems. Very nice and extremely helpful.
I would highly recommend renting here, especially based on the horror stories I've heard from people who rent at some other places nearby (cough* Brookside, Todd) and I have my own horror stories from the Rise, but the Lofts is the opposite of those...
Read moreWe loved living in the Lofts on Broadway! We are a married couple in our late 20s. We loved being able to walk to restaurants, shopping, and bars downtown. The corner of 10th & Broadway could not be a more ideal location for getting anywhere downtown or walking to campus. We rarely had a problem with noise from outside or noise from neighbors in the building. Overall, our neighbors were respectful professionals around our age which we loved. Anyone looking at this building should be ok with a little noise here and there and some shenanigans in the streets on weekend nights. It was all harmless but something to be aware of before signing. The finishes and appliances in the building are incredibly high quality. You could not ask for a better management team. The leasing team was amazing from the very beginning and Kevin (maintenance) was incredibly responsive when we needed things fixed, a light bulb changed, etc. The building was kept very clean, too. We had 2 great years at The Lofts and would have continued living there if it weren't for my husband's residency taking...
