On May 28th, my husband and I went to Belk in Columbus MS. My first encounter with an employee was less than pleasant. I simply asked her if the signs over the clothes notated "only said $19.99" would the coupon apply, her answer was, you will just have to wait until you check out. Turns out every rack was "door buster" but not all racks in the Kim Rogers women's dept. were notated as such. My husband had a much more pleasant experience in the shoe dept. Kaylene, was awesome. She offered to order him a pair of shoes, but he declined. She also rang me up and scanned all the coupons to see which one would benefit us the most. 3 hours later my husband decided to go back and order the shoes, so I went to the bathing suit dept. I haven't bought a bathing suit in years, so I truly had no idea how the sizes ran. BIG MISTAKE! I asked a clerk what the equivalent sizes were between an X and an XXL, her reaction was so d*mn rude I almost cried. She got right in my face and said " I don't know" ! Really, can no one tell me if an x is 20 or an XL is 22? I thanked her for her time and was sorry I bothered her. Then I put the items I had planned to purchase , back on the rack.
Sorry Belk, but the only bright spot about your store...
Read moreThe past two years this store has declined drastically. I've placed numerous complaints and nothing has changed. You can not be checked out without walking around the store multiple times to find a staff member and ask them to please check you out. Today - I stood at the register of intimate apparel for 6 min waiting to checkout. Then I called the store and spoke to the manager and asked if anyone was working intimate apparel dept today. She said yes they are at the register checking people out. I told her there was no one checking me out and I have now been standing here for 8 min. The manager then asked me to look around and see if I could see her. Then she said she would send someone. 4 min later a lady came to the edge of the department and yelled I'm helping other customers over here! If no one is checking out that department at least put a sign up to which departments might be...
Read moreMy wife was looking for a wallet, most of which are in a locked case. Associate, from 10 yards away, asked if she needed some help. My wife responded in the affirmative. The associate took a few steps toward us when she was stopped by another customer with a question. I don't know if this was a friend of hers or what, but they were engaged in increasingly lengthy banter and, as the 2 began walking away from the area, my wife said, "Excuse me--was someone going to help me?". Response was, "I was just going to go show her a watch real quick...", but then it seemed the Customer Service Fairy zipped in and sprinkled some "You better think" dust on her. So she told the other customer/friend, "Go on over there and I'll be there in a minute.” She waddled over and the rest of the experience was fine and she proved polite...
