While at Relentless for the time that I was there, I made countless friend's and made many memories with the staff and dedicated patrons of the gym. I worked a short time with Jake and enjoyed every minute of it until I foolishly left on my own accord.
One thing that I noticed while I was there. Thereâs a common trend with people that leave and with people who stay. People who leave the gym are usually slow to work and quick to talk. âOh they send me texts with emojisâ, âthey accidentally gave me a boo-boo ouchie when I was trainingâ, âThey talked me into signing a contract that I failed to read and understand due to my own ignoranceâ etc. All of this could be resolved by understanding 1. Theyâre running a business and 2. Theyâre helping you reach a goal that you obviously canât reach without professional support. People fail to realize that reaching that goal, whatever it may be isn't obtainable in a day or a week or a month or maybe even a year.
The common trend for people that stay from my own observations, Iâve seen that they all started from the bottom. They were soft, meek or had some reason that brought them to the point of change being inevitable and they never quit. Becoming Champions, repetitive competitors, or overall great martial artists. All staff members/coaches are some of the most ferocious competitors on the market and some of the easiest people to learn from.
As for one of the lads âđ» Or đđ» From this thread whoâs slandering Jakes name in the reviews (You know who you are), to you I have choice words. Youâre barking up a tree that youâre not ready to climb. Sure youâre a black belt. đđ».
You can have youâre dark belt and all the talent in the business but you wonât outwork him. All staff including Jake is dedicated to the craft. I will give praise to everyone there for that because I didnât enough while I was there.
Idk if youâre clout chasing because heâs seeing the light of his long waited and earned success, but if itâs because of that no oneâs going to remember your name to of which other than the black belt trying to defame a fellow black belt. Youâre in the game of choking people out and Jake politely called you out to settle it. Make the move or move...
Read moreI was hesitant at first to even try reaching out as I was just seeing what hobbies I could start during an intermittent work move. Although the initial phone queries feel a bit disconnected from the establishment and odd, I decided to just go in person for the introductory class. I was shocked with how quick I fell in love with the gym and the staff. You HAVE TO GO IN PERSON to truly see what this place is about. I've played two sports in high school and one in college, and I've been part of many clubs. However, none of those organizations have come close to the family culture that I have experienced here in Columbus. The owner is consistent, passionate, and more importantly- as real as it gets. And it is not just Jake, ALL of the instructors are incredibly helpful, encouraging, and easy to become close friends with (shoutout to Mo, KT, and Randy). I have never had a serious health scare, seen someone else be put in an uncomfortable situation they weren't willing to partake in, or have witnessed any of the incidents in the lowest reviews on Google. Over the past 5 months, I have learned a great amount of technique and philosophy to apply to my daily routine to feel more comfortable day-to-day, and I am in some of the best shape I've been in. Even though I am moving, I am taking my training with me to continue this amazing journey Relentless has given me. Don't overthink, wait, and stall giving them a shot. If you don't put yourself forward, in 1 year you will think to yourself, "man I definitely had the ability to give that a go." And if you don't take the opportunity then, 5 years after that you will say, "Now that I am getting older, I for sure could have done that if I tried"...and rinse and repeat. There is no time like now, so get after it!
And if I have the pleasure of traveling in the area again, this place will be my first stop to pop in and say hello. So thank you for everything over these...
Read moreThere is a language barrier with the main jiu-jitsu instructor. He is unable to communicate his instructions thoroughly and expects you to read his mind when you begin practicing the skill. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but he became extremely frustrated with me more often than not. The learning environment was very strained, and the language barrier just adds on. The other students in the class were amiable and a joy to work with, but I would not recommend taking jiu-jitsu at this gym. Also, the cancellation process is convoluted and immensely confusing. You must send in a written cancellation, and they say that it might take up to 30 days in processing, but I have waited more than 30 days, and I have yet to hear anything. I called the gym, and the representative told me to call another number. The other number that he provided was THE SAME EXACT NUMBER as the gym. Overall, I would give this institution 0 stars if I could. I have not had a pleasant experience, and I would not want anyone to...
