My husband Joe and I visit your restaurants on a much too frequent schedule. Which will be adjusted downward after our most recent experience. We typically find ourself, at least once but usually twice each week, at either Hudsons 29, Cameronâs AMERICAN Bistro or The Avenue when in Columbus. When in Sarasota, the new Ocean Prime is our first choice for fine dining.
Tonight at The Avenue on Grandview Ave in Columbus, Joe ordered the described âspecialâ which was a 6oz filet with scallops and spiced butter. When it arrived, the spiced butter was causing the filet to swim in the butter. Although the waiter offered to re make the filet, Joe was gratuitous and told the waiter he would scrape it away and deal with it. When we finished, Chandler our waiter, presented the checks. The check is pictured below: Instead of one price for the special, it was itemized as A la carte pricing. 1 6oz filet. $52.99 1 Herb Butter $3.00 1 Add 2ct Scallops $16.99 My husband ordered a special not an A la carte medley.
When he confronted the waiter, Chandler explained that that was both the chef and the managerâs decision to bill it that way. When the manager, Nick Hamilton, got involved it went further south.
It was obvious to our entire party of 4 that neither the waiter or manager had bought into Cameronâs book âYES IS THE ANSWERâ . They made no apologies or adjustments. It was a total misrepresentation of the nightly âspecialâ that was offered and a doubling down on bad customer service by refusing to apologize or offer a compromise. I have included the check for both of our dinner orders. Understand, This is not typical of the excellent treatment we usually receive from Cameron Mitchell restaurants in general or from The Avenue in Grandview. This manager needs either more training or should be replaced. I will not be returning until one or the other has been done.
Regretfully,
Joe and...
Read moreIt was a really bad day at Cap City diner in Dublin. We were seated by a hostess who couldnât find our reservation even though we had it on our phones. After 15-20 minutes and no one approached us to even get drink orders, my son got up and was met by Ken who said he noticed we had not been greeted and apologized. He offered us a free appetizer. We ordered 2 Bloody Maryâs and a beer. After 15 more minutes, the drinks came. The Bloody Maryâs were absolutely awful. Something was either old or the bartender had no idea how to make a Bloody Mary. My son and daughter-in-law had just been there within the week and she said the Bloody Maryâs were absolutely awesome. Obviously a different bartender. No one came to take our order, so my son approached the manager, not once but twice. He finally showed up and offered to redo the Bloody Maryâs. My daughter-in-law got another one, I got a beer, which I settled for. We asked the manager who our waiter or waitress would be and he said Ken could continue with us. After 45 minutes, we flagged down Ken and he said the manager just told him we were his table. Ken had 2 huge tables he was working and was as nice as he could be to us!!! After an hour, we finally placed an order, an easy order. 20 minutes later we got that order. Food was great. 2 hours later we walk out of Cap City Diner, pretty unhappy with everything that had happened. Itâs not what we expect from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. We so appreciated our server, Ken, who stepped up and we tipped him appropriately for that. As for the manager and the hostess, they...
Read moreI went to Ocean Prime in Sat Feb 13 2021. We made reservations 2 weeks prior. When we arrived the waitress gave each other a look and sat my wife and I to the side (not at the main dining area). When we sat down we noticed everyone in this area was of color. Coincidence? We asked a couple leaving and they said they also found it odd. Anyway we ate and drank and celebrated. When it was time to pay we figure we use 3 Cameron Mitchell gift certificates we were gifted by a client. The waiter immediately bypassed his cash register and went to the manager. Now we called Cameron Mitchell and used their website to check the balance on all 3 cards. The manager came over and said he can not accept these and that they are beyond his pay grade as to why. He returned and we paid with our CC. I once again checked the balance of the cards and the balance is still there. So now we have 3 gift cards that are completely worthless. I was embarrassed on V-Day and told that they may have been purchased on ebay. Disrespectful! Called corporate no...
