This is the first and only time I will be using Men's Warehouse for tuxedo rentals. I coordinated tux rentals for 8 different people and would have expected better quality control of products from the name brand national retailer. Their pickup window is insane and the furthest they could push it back was 4 days before my wedding (originally it was the day before lol). This concerned me because what if something doesn't fit? Also it's not a big window for people who are traveling which has proven problematic for me and my concerns were realized.
Anyway, I rented a tuxedo for my wedding and picked it up yesterday only to find that one of the shoes was ripped. Yes, ripped. Whatever, mistakes happen so they ordered a new pair that I went in to pick up today and took time out of my day. These shoes are pretty significantly scuffed on both toe boxes with white, tan, and black scuffs. Clearly no quality control seeing as I received two defective shoes.
This is where the story gets interesting. When I asked the female associate at the store if they have any polish to fix this issue in the store, she said no they don't do that here. Very odd practice in my opinion. She then proceeded to tell me that I could use a black sharpie to color in the scuffs..... This must be a joke. Sure let me damage your rentals by using a sharpie on them which is only a poor solution fyi that really doesn't make shoes look any better and doesn't fill in grooves of damaged areas. After she saw my astonishment with her response, she then concluded to say "well they're just rentals". Pretty much saying, what else did you expect. Are you kidding me!?! I'm having a wedding and like 95% of other Americans, the bridal party is going to be renting their suits/tux's so I am highly offended by this associate's response to a rental that cost $220 each. I had to call customer service and after a 20min phone call, they are shipping me a new pair of shoes to my wedding location since I'm leaving tomorrow morning. What she should have done is said, let me take this shoe polish kit off our rack and get these shoes all polished up for you. That would have solved everything, but now I'm left in limbo wondering if this new pair they're shipping will be any better off.
Another issue I have, which is funny and seriously annoying is their dress shirts with French cuffs also have buttons. Lol what? I asked and was told this is for people who don't like to use cufflinks. Here's an idea: if someone doesn't like French cuffs, allow them to rent a shirt without French cuffs. Don't ruin the cuffs for people who actually plan on using them properly. This is a travesty to style. Cufflinks are going to look stupid next to two buttons.
Update: this company must not polish any shoes. My other groomsman also has scuffed shoes. Looks like I'm going to have to polish them myself.
Final concerns: whelp I hope they at least sanitize the shoes after use because it doesn't appear that they do anything else. And to think I was going to buy a couple sport jackets from here. Thank God I didn't.
Update: they sent the wrong size of shoes now twice....
Read moreCame in to get a pair of dress slacks, shirt and tie for an interview. Wandered around for about ten or fifteen minutes, looked through racks. There were several associates standing around and 2 were folding shirts the entire time I was there. Never received so much as a greeting or an offer to help. I had to ask someone if they could help me. Found a pair of slacks that needed altered, and I asked if they could be done by the next day since I was needing them for a interview. He kept trying to tell me I should get suspenders. I explained to him I don't want them and I was not going to be wearing a jacket. He assured me that the alterations could be done by 6pm the following day. The seamstress that measured was kind of rude and nasty and she told me that she could not have them ready the next day but will check with the other seamstress that was working. He confirmed he could have them ready for me. When I came in the next day at 7pm once again now one acknowledged me, I stood at the register and finally a young guy came up and asked if he could help me. He was not friendly at all. I explained I had a pair of slacks to pick-up. He went to get them, came back and told me that they are not ready. I explained to him I was told they would be ready. I asked to get a refund and he called for a lady to come over. I explained to her that I was told they would be ready by 6pm today., She kept telling me I don't know why they would tell you that. The earliest we can have them ready is October 10th, since they have so many alterations for weddings. She was down right rude and had no personality. I asked if I could speak to the manager and she said she was the manager. I explained to her that when I came in the day before, the staff did not greet or ask if I needed help. Her comment was "We have a lot of new staff" I looked at her and told her it's a training issue. That I was not happy and I want a refund. She had the young guy go back and get the slacks so she can refund, when he came out with them the slacks had been altered, She never once apologized to me. I can see why the staff is the way they are, the manager has the personality of a piss ant. Corporate needs to pay an unexpected visit to this location and see how they treat...
Read moreDO NOT EVER GO INTO THIS STORE!!! We ordered pants for our son for homecoming and they were being altered. We received an email stating that the pants were ready for pick up. After standing in line for over 20 minutes and no one had asked if they could help us, we asked if someone could. One of the employees asked what the name was and went to the back. He came back out and never said a word and started waiting on other people. We finally got the attention of the assistance manager, Eduard V. Pfau. He was rude, dismissive and constantly stopped our conversation to be rude and dismissive to the other customers and staff. He finally went to the back and came back and said the pants were not there and started waiting on someone else. I waited until he was done berating another customer and started to ask questions. He told me he didn't know why we received the email and that he couldn't help us. After some encouraging on our part, he started to call other stores to have them overnighted. No store had the pants. We asked if there were other pants we could look at. He said they didn't have any 32" pants in the store and walked away. The assistant manager should not be a manager. He should seriously rethink his career options as customer service is not one of his qualities. Well good customer service anyways. We were in the store a total of an hour and half and we have never been treated so poorly in a store. Numerous customers were frustrated as well for being treated poorly. Some man waited in line for 20 minutes to then rudely be told to hang his item on the rack in the corner. I will never go to this store or another men's warehouse again. Completely unacceptable. This would have been a totally different review if at any point he would have said he was sorry for the misinformation or the inconvenience. He actually said it wasn't his problem. I asked for his supervisor's name and was told it was Brenda Nelson. I was going to call her to discuss, but actually none of the employees were nice so I didn't have any high expectations that my encounter with her would...
