Stopped by since we were in the area, and almost wish I hadn't. The store itself was neat; well organized; and had a better selection of games including a special edition version of a game, but that's where the pleasantries ended. There were two employees present, talking about how they hated speaking to customers in blatant earshot of us and definitely gave the energy of not even wanting to be there.
Took the special edition game to checkout, because as a collector I like things like alternate packaging and the like. They preceded to first completely switch out the game case for a generic one in worse condition, and when I asked if I could keep the special case they gave me a glaring look. I apologized for the inconvenience and explained that it's just one of my collection quirks to have that case on my shelf, but you could tell they couldn't care less. Then, they switched the case artwork between the special one and the generic one, ensuring I still had the crappy shell of the case and threw in a generic disc, which I spotted. I asked if I could get the special disc that matched the case and the said they all look the same and I was wrong. Sure enough, as soon as I described the special disc's color, it was right there. Finally, as I was ready to pay. They asked for my phone number, and this is where I'm used to any Gamestop employee asking if I want to use any available coupons and such, but instead they just stood there looking at me like they just wanted me to pay and leave. I had to tell them I wanted to use my monthly coupon to which I was just met with a groan, but they went through with it. Unfortunately, it didn't end there though. Once in the car, I opened the case to put my receipt in it and realized that they had taken the download code vouchers that were in there out at some point; probably when they switched cases around. I went back in, apologized again on my behalf, and asked if I could get the vouchers that were in the case previously. Their answer was that the codes aren't guaranteed to work, so they didn't matter anyway. I told them for the umpteenth time that I didn't care if they worked or not, but I am a collector and wanted them to complete the look of that special edition case. They begrudgingly gave me the vouchers and I could not have been happier to just be done with that situation. Icing on the cake to the whole ordeal? Once I got home, I noticed they had slapped their price sticker on the artwork itself, instead of on the case like any other place would. This is a special edition case and it's now permanently marked with a price tag because that sticker was not coming off without damaging the artwork in some way so I don't even feel like dealing with it.
TLDR: Worst experience I have ever had in any Gamestop I've ever been to. These employees, whose names I don't care enough to remember, definitely do not need to be there. Their disregard to their merchandise and disrespect towards their customers base is almost unbelievable and I don't wish that experience on anyone else. Didn't ruin my day in any, but was such an awful time that two days later I'm still in disbelief.
If you walk in and immediately get a bad vibe from the employees here, I recommend you just walk...
Read moreWent for a black friday sale on the Switch Mario Kart bundle and to pick up the Mario Party and Joy Con bundle. Was told early on that they had sold out of Switch bundles about an hour after opening. I was fine with that, it was understandable. A staff member asked me what I was there for, so I told him about the Mario Party bundle. After spending a considerable amount of time at the back of the line taking people behind me's orders, he came back up and had already forgotten what I had asked for. I reminded him, and he went to speak with staff to see if they had it. He told me they did. I waited another hour until I was at the front of the line, only to be told that this store did not have it. After all this wasted time because they didnt bother actually checking the back for the inventory, they offered me nothing as compensation except to call another store to hold one for me so I could spend another hour and a half in another line across town. Appalling customer service. Thank god Amazon and the gaming industry is running this mismanaged atrocity of a company into the ground. Will not be supporting...
Read moreGameStop has to do a better job when they have special releases. If a store is allocated 14 premium Pokemon etbs then how do they allow 1 guy to show up with both his parents, his wife, and 2 kids how are they allowed to purchase 2 boxes per person? The guy is clearly a scalper and runs off with every last box when there have been people waiting in line for 12+ hours? When products are in such high demand why not limit it to 1 per party? GameStop is just feeding into what is a huge problem that has taken over Pokemon collecting. Grandparents waiting in line hoping to bless their grandkids with a gift… parents trying to purchase graduation presents for students who are working hard on their grades only to watch some selfish a hole stack 12 boxes in the back of his busted blue ford raptor. Raffle them off so everyone has a fair chance or at least pay attention to the people in line and how they are clearly taking advantage of the flawed system. Scalpers suck and GameStop is only making the problem worse with their archaic...
