Dropped $160+ on gardening supplies. Cashier ā€œTyā€ (apron confirmed) was glued to his cellphone like it was a hostage negotiation. I asked for help lifting a giant bag of soil into my cart—he sighed so loudly I thought I’d ruined his weekend. It took him ages to scan 7 items, and he even told another customer to just go to self-checkout (translation: ā€œstop bothering meā€). After I paid, I asked if he could help load the soil into my car—just 20 feet away, parked right up front. He nodded. I loaded all my plants, stood waiting in the heat… and Ty never moved, still scrolling at the register. With a bad back and one bum knee, I wrestled that monster bag into my car myself. Came back, returned the cart, asked if he’d called anyone—he shrugged, ā€œYeah, we got one loader,ā€ which felt like code for not my job. So I left with my plants, my soil, and maybe a hernia. Question though: If employees get work injury compensation, do customers get shopping injury compensation too?

The assistant manager, Sun. March 10th, 2019 has no idea what he is doing. This guy is as clueless as a new born baby. Spent about $180 on Mar. 9th... this included a 4"x4" douglas fir post 8' feet long, that I requested be cut into four equal lengths. It took like 15 minutes to even find an associate, so that I could ask for help, as the back door was open and seemed everyone was back there doing something. The associate asked me to look for "some guy", told him I had been looking, he was the first person I found, everyone seems outback, would you please call someone... he said he would... I stood by the machine another 15 minutes... the same guy, was looking, calling, and had no luck... he finally left the customer he was helping, came over and said he would just do it. The associate using a tape measure, determined where to cut, made three quick cuts, saw him check the cuts with the tape again, and he loaded them onto my orange cart. I loaded them into my car where they sat until the next day... upon trying to use them Sunday, I discovered, they were not cut the same length... three were one length, and one was shorter (see photo). When I returned Sunday... there was one man working the pro area check out... he was on the phone, having trouble getting folks help with the key making machine... I waited almost five minutes, why he spoke to someone on the phone, made an announcement that help was needed at the key machine, before he could see what I required... I had my receipt, explained my problem, he called someone, as said someone would be there to help me shortly. I stood there for over 30 minutes, nobody came. The whole time, I am watching some orange vest guy load Lumber onto a cart, seemed confused, and was not moving at any speed that convey urgency. I asked the man working the counter, if they were busy, he said no. I then called, asked to speak to the manager, and told him I was not happy... he said he was with another customer, it would be a bit, and I waited more.... I then see someone, who I saw walk into the store, who had to walk right past me while waiting where instructed, go find someone else in lumber, and they begin getting their Lumber cut... that is when I had had enough! I went down there and "whistled" ... got the employees attention, and told them to quit what they were doing and find me a manger now. When the manager arrived he was mad at me. I did not care. I tried to explain to him what had happened, and he kept trying to tell me I was trying to cut the line, would not listen, told me yesterday did not matter, this is today... made me stand there why they cut a bunch of landscape timbers into 8" sections for some other customer, which took another 20 minutes... once they got to me, it took the man two minutes, to make ONE cut, to fix the screw up they made yesterday.... Two minutes... I had other items I needed, had they come, got my Lumber, indicated I was in line, I could have gone shopping... but I was forced to stand there and waste my time... I have several homes, spend several thousand dollars here every year, and I need stuff constantly... so, once they had corrected this problem, I left, drove straight to Lowe's, spent $120 in store, then went home and online ordered a storm door, and a toilet with new seat for around $650... which I had planned on buying at Home Depot... I am in the market for a new refrigerator, and you can bet, that purchase is not happening here either. The fact, this simple cut was missed was bad enough, but how this mistake was handled, how this man, who is supposed to understand how to deal with customers, was clueless. As a result, I have no intentions of...

See update below for why this review went from 5 stars to 1 star.

I never thought I would write a 5 star review for a chain store like Home Depot but here I am. Since moving to the Conroe/Montgomery area we have had horrible service at our usual home store of Lowes so we gave the local Home Depot a try. Yeah they don't offer the same military discount that Lowes does but the employees at this Conroe store are great. A big shout out to Jonathan who went above & beyond helping my husband load the back of the truck in the rain back on Aug. 4th.

This one visit on August 4th will make us loyal customers for a long time. We had just got done leaving Lowe's because the employee's there just didn't want to help get some heavy shelving down from the top shelf. We waited for over 30 minutes at Lowes for an employee who tried to talk us out of getting what we wanted. We left Lowes & went to Home Depot for the first time in years. I have to tell you we were so impressed with the people there especially Jonathan. Not only was the employee's at Home Depot better but so was the shelving we ended up getting & it was slightly less money so the military discount was not necessary. Plus I ended up getting some other items that fit my needs & have exceeded my expectations. Keep up the great work Home Depot!!!

Update - From a visit on January 20th, 2019 - My review dropped from a 5 star review to 1 star review. We have been back numerous times probably about 12 more times since August review. The last 3 have been horrbile and Amazon just got more business from us & the local small hardware stores. Basically Home Depot has given their 1 card away that could beat Amazon & that is customer service. Home Depot & numerous other stores just can't compete so they have given up. Self serve lines are what they push and even when you decide to get in line to wait for a cashier they usually get pulled away to help someone on the self serve lines. The straw that broke the back was we wanted to purchase a Nest thermostat & it said take ticket to any cashier to get product. After waiting 10 minutes the cashier said sorry can't help you, you need to go there (she pointed) we pointed out that it said any cashier but nope she couldn't help us. We also had numerous storage containers to purchase. Long story short we walked out & now on Tuesday we have the $330 of merchandise delivered by Amazon. Thanks Amazon you keep winning because stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Kroger, and etc..... just don't know how to beat you, they are to foolish to know they could win by giving hands on customer service. They understaff their stores, don't give proper training, and scratch their heads of why they...

I googled The Home Depot, Conroe, Texas. Found the lawn mower I wanted and called Home Depot headquarters because I do not like to order items online...especially costly ones. A very nice rep got on the phone with me and I asked her to look at what I was looking at. It said there were two of these driving mowers available. She contacted the store to confirm and I made my purchase...in excess of a thousand dollars. We got notice that day and again later that the mower could be picked up at any time. I told the store thru the rep that we would pick it up today before noon. We made the hour plus drive and came in with proof of purchase and ID. They did not know what we were talking about and had no mowers of this kind. They did have the brand, larger mowers....a whole line of them with RECALL stickers on them. After about an hour, the store discovered that our item was about 7 miles down the freeway at ANOTHER CONROE Home Depot. Why would Home Depot not be very careful in this respect and make it clear that they have two stores listed in Conroe when one really is The Woodlands. We decided not to go pick up the mower because of all the recall signs all over the others. This store had a John Deere but it cost us abot $600 more. They had one. Then we had to spend another hour and a half standing there with their staff making a paper transfer because our mower was in another Home Depot and really never picked up. What a mess. The people in the Conroe store....where we bought the other more expensive mower worked hard and long an took up over two and a half hours straightening this out. HOME DEPOT HEADQUARTERS, GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER AND MAKE CLEAR ON YOUR SITE THAT YOU HAVE TWO STORES IN THE SAME CITY...
