Went here for the 1st time on Saturday March 15th 2025 with my mom to pick up some groceries. First, we went online to sign up for their rewards system, and then started shopping. We also had to grab a wagon from somebody finishing up their groceries as there were none in or by the store entrance. After that, we asked someone how to obtain the rewards of food lion, and they said that it just goes by phone number. Pleasantly at least. Anyways, we then started shopping. We brought blueberries, grapes- tried to buy cabbage but they were unfortunately out :(, brought a bag of red potatoes and regular potatoes. We headed to the back and checked out the meats: we brought some pork cutlets, Fridays Ribs, corned beef, and chicken. We also looked around at the aisles. We then brought some Hazelnut coffee from Food Lion, which was very good and creamy. A worker also helped us take it off the high shelf! Was surprised at the prices of the yogurts- more than walmart. We also brought neopolitean ice cream- which eh- there's only like a slab of strawberry ice cream in the middle- some people buy neopolitean for the strawberry ice cream. Anyways, also purchased some vegetables. Store and aisles were clean. When we were done, we went to the cashier who rang up and bagged all of our items. And ah, coming from NY, it is so nice to see plastic bags again! We then loaded our car, and went on our merry way! Would be back if we need...
Read moreI love Food Lion in general because they have some of the lowest prices on groceries. But the 501 location is definitely my favorite even if the interior isn't as fancy as some of the others in our area. It just has a good vibe and makes you feel comfortable, even when it's really busy. The store and bathrooms are always clean, and the staff are all really friendly. Their produce is top notch too, and they're good about removing anything that's past its prime. They also do a good job of keeping the shelves well stocked. During Covid and last year's supply issues I would come specifically to this location to get my produce. Then, when name brand products weren't being supplied to stores I noticed that this Food Lion in particular outsourced anything they could from alternative manufacturers. So instead of leaving entire sections empty like other stores, they filled the shelves with lesser known brands. I would rather have crackers from some brand I've never heard of, than have NO crackers at all. The only time I've ever noticed an empty spot is when they first open for the day, and it's only because they haven't finished putting everything out yet. Hands down one of the best grocery...
Read moreThis is my neighborhood grocery store and I like shopping here. Lines are generally short and they don't force you to the self-checkout like some stores. In my last two visits, though (July 2020) it has reached the point where customers are noticeably better about wearing masks than employees. That makes me want to avoid the store. Details: maybe 90% of customers had masks that covered their mouth and nose. Maybe two of 7 employees I saw had that (it was one or two cashiers). Two cashiers had their nose out, a stock clerk had no mask at all (in past visits I've seen the same guy with a mask jauntily hanging from his ear). I think another stocker had no mask, but I'm not sure if that guy's blue shirt was a food lion shirt or if he was some sort of delivery guy. don't remember every one of them, but come on, guys, if your customers can cover their mouth and nose, you can, too. Obviously this is a management issue - someone has told them masks aren't important. I...
