My fiancé and I had a bad experience at Jordan’s Jewelers with not only poor customer service but getting an antique ring resized down. It came back unpolished, rough, and damaged. From the moment we walked in to Richard Gretz we were greeted with smiles and enthusiasm for coming into the store. To our surprise, the lady who does all the appraisals happened to be in today. She examined my ring and gave us more information than was ever given at Jordan’s. She took the time to examine the ring closely and gave us the unfortunate news that it needs lots of repair and a diamond was even going to fall out (things that were not told previously). She saw the damages created by the resizing and both ladies walked us through the process step by step of what needed to be done to make the ring last for years and years.

The amount of compassion, knowledge and understanding was far superior than most jewelry stores and we felt very taken care of. I don’t even mind that my ring will be off my hand for 2 weeks because I feel so confident it will be in much better shape than when we left.

After being hassled by a big name jeweler in Portland, who assured me that they could not do what I wanted with a diamond that I already had and would not take responsibility for any damages that occurred while setting the diamond, I went to Richard Gretz for my fiancé's engagement ring. Richard made the ring to the exact specifications that I requested and made a point to tell me that upon completion of the ring, if my fiancé didn't love the ring, we would start from scratch. All the while, he took full responsibility for any complications that came from setting the ring. Richard and his entire staff were so courteous that when it came time for my fiancé to pick a wedding band, I encouraged her to go to Richard. I had an engagement ring custom made and every step of the experience was outstanding! The staff was very kind, knowledgeable, practical, and accommodating and helped me design a ring that was even better than my original vision. They were on time or early in every step of the process and gave me the opportunity to be very involved the entire time. I got to sit down with Richard and Irene to sketch out the original design, work with Richard to adjust certain angles in the 3d model, discuss multiple wax models with Matthew, and view the stones through a microscope with the appraiser.
