WARNING. Iâd give zero stars if I could. I donât usually do reviews but I felt the need to warn people. Platoâs is probably the worst âgently usedâ consignment clothing store ever. Stick with the smaller stores. (Switch it up) is a good one. Iâve been buying and selling at Platoâs for 5 years. Iâve never had an issue until now. They wonât hardly give you anything for your stuff. And if itâs basically not brand new with the tags on it, they wonât buy it. I brought a bag full of clothes and shoes (all worn roughly 5 times). They checked them while I shopped. I had some items I wanted to buy from them, also. When they were done going through my items, they called me up and kept 2 shirts and gave me $5. Shirts that I didnât even think theyâd take. I had 3 pairs of shoes no more than 1-2 years old. Basically new. Nikeâs, polo, puma, chaps. All name brand name stuff. They didnât want to buy any of it. Theyâd find a flake of dirt on the sole of a shoe and pass on them. I scraped the flake of dirt off and they still came up with excuses as to why they donât want to buy my clothes. Wasting my time and gas for $5. Again, ALL brand name stuff and ALL gently worn or new. They said there are stains. I asked where. They couldnât even find the âstainsâ when I asked them to show me. Over the 5 years of being a customer with Platoâs, Iâll now say that it isnât worth it and Iâll not go back to buy or sell. Needless to say, the clothes I was going to buy from them, I didnât because of this horrible customer service and By the way, as they were looking at my items, I was shopping and saw at least 10 shirts in the 20 min. I was there that had very visible stains, yet my clothes had zero stains and hardly any wear. This store is a joke now. Basically if you want them to buy your clothes, youâll need to go buy brand new name brand stuff, keep the tags on and then theyâll give you probably 10% of what you just paid.
To sum it up, youâre way better off going to a smaller consignment shop rather...
Read moreI originally went into this Plato's to sell some clothes a few weeks ago because I had heard really good things about them. I work at a store exactly like Plato's just for a different demographic, so I know exactly how the process works and that not all items are going to be taken and that I would be receiving a very small portion of what they'd be selling the items for. These are all things I am perfectly content with. However, I went into the store with four bags of clothing (which I know is a lot), as I walked in I could see one of the employees mouthing the F word and walking to check me in. They did and I watched as they sorted and folded another person's clothing (paying attention to how they folded). I left the store and received a text not even 30 minutes later telling me my buy was done (it does NOT take less than 30 min to go through 4 bags especially with one other buy in front of me). When I went into the store they gave me the offer (which I would have been content with had I only brought in 2 bags) and gave me an "explanation" why they didn't take anything else which he did not explain when I asked him to. When I got into my car I looked in the bags and they had only gone through 2 bags (they were folded as I had seen the girl folding), the other 2 were as neat as I had left them. I understand it was a lot of clothes, but with no one in the store and only one small buy in front of me it is extremely disrespectful to not even look at the rest of my items. That does not happen at my store. I am very disappointed and will not be returning as a second...
Read moreI would like to respond to people that say Plato's Closet is to expensive for it to be a secondhand store. I have to agree it is a little higher priced than most thrift stores but they operate different. The clothing they have is geared for the younger generation it gives them an opportunity to find good quality clothing in great shape that's in a better price range for them Pluto's closet pays for most of their very little of their stuff is fully donated so it will cost you a little they look through the stuff and they only accept things that are in good shape and thinks that the younger generation would really enjoy that's why they're not like your bottom dollar thrift I think it's a great place it's a good idea for the younger generation to be able to afford some really nice things at a cheaper price. But don't get me wrong just because it's geared for the younger teens and early twenties it's also got some great stuff in there for the older folks like me. 5 stars from me. I'm 63 and I can find things I like. Great boots and...
