First of all let me say I will be going back, the people were nice and the food pretty good. Skip down if you want the food only review I'll do a updated review once they settle in and it's not opening day. It seems like they had some typical (opening day) issues. They seemed overwelmed with the amount of people, and everyone was new to the routine so the efficiency you would see in a seasoned restaurant was not there. It was totally ok as we could see they were doing their best. We had 3 people and we spent 70 bucks with tip and a shared desert. I had been here before when It was Corbys Bar so I could see they recycled the furniture. Which is no big deal other than the original furniture had all the charm of a bus station. If you go try to get the booth in the back it's the only mellow one. In the main hall it really seems like a busy bus station. So don't go expecting a calm quiet night. Corbys had the same problem, a cacophony of echos and you can hear everyone else as if they were sitting next to you. The design of the room just makes it reverberate. I suggest some sound deading decorative tiles off Amazon. The upstairs isn't open yet. Oh one other thing that bummed me out was the bathroom hand towel paper was so thin it almost floated away ha... As a customer it would be nice if they just picked up some thicker paper towels. I know it's weird to mention but who wants to stand there for 10 minutes waiting for the hand towel machine to spit out another 6 inches of paper so it doesn't look like you peed on your hands. 𫣠Now to the food.. we got the Chicken Yakisoba I would say 4.75 out of 5 super tasty, good balance of taste and texture. Tonkotsu Chicken Ramen 2.5 out of 5 (mostly because it was bland) it was missing flavor we all thought so.. but it looked good. The portion was big. Chicken Kastsu bento box 4 out of 5. The chicken was breaded perfectly and very tasty, the rest of the plate was on par with other restaurants. Spicy Salmon roll was 4.75 out of 5. I did not try this but my table mates really liked it and wanted to try the others. For desert we got the Raspberry mousse cake, 4 out 5 light and taste and just cute. 3 little piece. Overall I would say go try it, it was pretty good and as they get things figured out I'm betting this place will be popular, they just need to work out the kinks.. maybe just order out for a while if you...
Read moreWe first called Osaka Dallas before stopping in for dinner to make sure there were gluten free options at which we were told anything without sauce. We arrived and were told to take a seat wherever weâd like that had two seats. We were handed menus and placed our orders.
I ordered a California roll and a golden California roll. On the menu these show as $7.50 / $8.00. I asked if the imitation crab was gluten free and informed it was not. I asked for real crab and was told there would be an up charge to which I said was fine (but wasnât informed how much). We waited and when our food had arrived and we began to eat I asked for water. I was given gluten free soy sauce which I loved that. We waited for our water and I contemplated grabbing a juice out of the fridge because after asking I saw our waitress speaking to another waitress and we were still waiting. Eventually the water came over (when we were more than half way done with our meal). We sat closest to the counter that had the register and there was a cleaning cart up against it. The entire time I smelt a very strong cleaner (I believe pine sol). At the end we were handed our bill and thatâs when I saw the up charge made my rolls from $7.50 to $12.50. I left a pretty generous tip, over $5 but I donât feel it was deserved.
I likely wonât be back but the space is adorable, I loved the wooden benches, the quiet atmosphere, the lighting and the cleanliness of...
Read moreWhat once was a room with a lot of beautiful natural wood has been shoddily painted over. You can even see the drips of red paint on the booths and floor. The remodeling looked tacky, misguided, and poorly done.
The menu is overwhelmingly big, offering Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Itâs hard to imagine a kitchen of that size being able to well execute that many dishes.
The servers are very young and inexperienced. They had 4 tables occupied and they had to ask the manager if they could seat us. We received our appetizer before getting any water or drinks. One of the drinks was served in a plastic cup shaped like a bear that looked like it was for kids. The server did not check in with us until after weâd finished eating.
The food was ok. The miso soup was bland. Sushi was not rolled properly. It fell apart on the bottom every time it was dipped in the soy sauce and wasabi.
A person in our party has a shellfish allergy which we communicated to the server several times. We even emphasized separating the orders, but the sushi was served all on one plate with shellfish and non shellfish items right next to each other. It doesnât seem like they took the allergy seriously at all.
We spent over $100 to feed 3 people which included one sake and one very sugary...
