I genuinely like this airport. It's big and modern and generally well-run. Security takes me 15 minutes at most every time. I also like FLL more than MIA, despite FLL being 2x farther from my home than MIA. Long-term parking is not too complicated. It was $15 per day at the time of my visit. I was able to pay "at a distance" with my Sunpass. The FLL app also tells me which parking garages have availability. Cool! In the terminals, it can be difficult to find seating or power outlets. The food and drinks are expensive.
But a word of caution. I also learned to be careful. Jacques at the Operations Control Center provided me with false information and dead-end phone numbers to TSA. Also, I was never able to reach a TSA employee on the phone at this location.
However, I did learn to trust in myself and my own ability to research the information I need. This is necessary, because even employees who are supposed to be "experts" have provided false information that caused me and my family a great deal of distress and nearly destroyed my travel plans.
I am seriously disturbed by airport employees' apparent propensity for overconfidently providing legally incorrect and detrimental advice.
(Am I the only person on this planet who makes sure I have physical proof of an assertion before insisting that others be guided by my assertion?)
Note About the Shuttle Bus Drivers One other thing - the shuttle bus drivers are unfriendly and borderline rude. One of them did not allow anyone to stand and ride in the bus, only sit. This did not make sense since in another bus, people were standing and using the provided handrails to hold on during the ride. I politely asked a separate bus driver for the direction of the Cypress Garage. He barely glanced at me and gestured weakly in a general direction, then continued to ignore me.
(This experience was a disappointing "welcome back" to my home country, after traveling overnight from 8 pm to 8 am.)

Read moreThe employees are not professional or considerate. I have never heard a thank you or welcome for one person in the airport . Employees at the Shula burger on their cell phone when helping customers. Janitors stomping the broom around and I saw a couple tell a janitor about a wallet left on a seat and he just said he could do anything and walked away. I guess he doesn’t do anything except his janitor duties . What actually made it worse is he went behind one of the allegiant desk sat down and went on his phone to talk . I notice even the staff on the run way getting the planes ready for unloaded and loading on phones. I feel the mayor and the airport management should take more pride in the airport as it is a large and very...
Read moreAfter more than 30 years of traveling, all across the United States, I think I found the airport with the worst customer service. Every single person I encountered was rude. From the car rental counters and pickup to restaurant staff to the airline personnel, everyone seemed angry. Not a good look for a major...
