The service is terrible. I sat down at the bar, ordered a soda, and was immediately told that the soda itself wouldn't suffice as they had a $10.00 minimum. I explained to the employee that I would be there for 2 hours and planned on getting lunch from them before my flight.
There were 16 empty seats at the bar. It was 11:50 AM when I sat down. My flight wasn't until 2:30 PM. He said that wasn't sufficient and I needed to order at least $10.00 in products just to have a seat. I advised the employee I wasn't ready to order food and would order the food when I was ready. He said that wasn't good enough, and I had to order the $10.00; otherwise, I would need to find somewhere else to eat. Given that I wasn't hungry at that moment, there was no chance I would know what I would want to order in an hour.
Clearly, my conversation with the employee was going nowhere. I asked for a manager, and the employee tried three more times to explain the policy before getting me a manager.
The manager understood my concerns and addressed the issue. After the manager left, the employee tried again to explain their terrible policy, citing that "the owner" fired a bartender recently because of theft and that people who weren't ordering food were sitting at the bar. The internal politics aren't your customers problem. The minimum spend isn't listed anywhere -- menus, signage at the restaurant, etc.
If you're flying through FLL and looking for good service, dine anywhere except Umaizushi. My Shrimp Tempura...
Read moreFood presentation is great, unfortunately that’s the only positive comment I can leave here. I like that you can order on the phone using qr code with specific table#. Problem is you have to pay first before you can get your order- means you have to put in a tip before services are rendered. Second problem, i waited 20-25 mins for my 1 chicken teriyaki bowl. I noticed 4 people behind the counter on on the phone two standing around and one prepping something, this is after about 20 mins of waiting, so I got up and asked about my order, to which i was asked “the teriyaki bowl? Just a few mins.” I said yea, and that was the entire conversation, no acknowledgment or apologies. Order was done and they handed me my bowl, asked if i wanted a fork or chopsticks. I was expecting a little bit of acknowledgement for the long wait but nothing. I even thanked them for the food and they didnt respond at all. The food, though it looked appetizing and freshly hot, it was horrible. Bitter teriyaki sauce. Chicken felt like pulled chicken. Veggies were ok and rice was ok. So yea, dont expect great food here. Oh also they automatically charge an 18% servce charge and asks you to add tip, which i hate because i’m forced to tip before i can find out how there service and food will be Needles to say,...
