An informal venue in the 'hood, for speakers, gatherings, dialogue, a well-stacked food bank, pop-up vendors, and even an afternoon podcast, among other events. Owned by Jeff Fard, a Black community leader and health advocate.

For several years Denver's Ancestors Day has been held here near the end of October. Ancestors Day 2022 Report

The 38th Ancestors Day, a family activity, was held at Brother Jeff's Cultural Café, in Denver's Five Points.  Celebrating with us this year:

"Stacey Abrams" "James Baldwin" Grandson of a Blackfoot Chief "Lisa Brown" (vs. The Board of Education) "Shirley Chisholm" "A youngster from The Children's March" "Bessie Coleman" "Frederick Douglass" "Zora Neale Hurston" "Fannie Lou Hamer" Future Astronaut, Dana Lynn My Mamma "Moses" "Stagecoach Mary" "Reynelda Muse" "Michelle Obama" "Rosa Parks" "Colin Powell" "Mamie Till" "Sojourner Truth" "Harriet Tubman" "Nat Turner" "Jacqueline Withers"

Some who didn't make it but wanted to: "Bessie Coleman" "Thurgood Marshal" "Michelle Obama" "Harriet Tubman" "Nat Turner"

Special Honor:  My son Tony came as me, "Isetta Crawford Rawls", and I was quite surprised.

I Called Out the Names of recent Ancestors from a list that I keep all year, and those present named others I didn't know of.

Snacks and jewelry crafts were donated by Dr. Carolyn Phillips, "Madam C. J. Walker"; and Elaina Canada sent pictures of Black heroes to color.

Children earned a share of my coconut full of dimes by giving their and their parents' names, their school, and telling "Who are you today", then counting and dividing them among themselves.

Our Host, Brother Gerald, was "Nat Turner"

If you couldn't come to our Ancestors Day, have one where you are!

—Isetta Crawford...

Brother Jeff's Cutural Center is my favorite small venue. There's always somebody there doing something different, whether I've met them before or not.

People from all over come to tell about important matters for a brief time, which Brother Jeff posts online.

I can take young children who are there, and do a little presentation for the crowd, who are always appreciative. That teaches children how to reach people, and helps keep them from being bored.

It would be nice if the cook there, with that great-smelling veggie sandwich, would once in a while make one without the hot peppers. That kind can double me over with pain. But it smells so good I have to go somewhere else to get...

I attend New and Full Moon Healing Sessions they have here for those in the black community. Each time there is something magical. We did a full body deep energetic cleansing in September’s Full Moon! I felt so light and free. On the New Moons they always do some kind of Sound Bath with the Crystal Singing Bowls and an intention setting with a Magnetic Mind Recode. This past weekend for October there was a Black Author’s Fair in the daytime and then the Sound Bath followed by Chair Massage from a Satya Yoga Cooperative Teacher. By the time we got to our intention setting I was so...
