I recently visited the store and bought an item for my daughter for $20. I provided my email, phone number, and name during the checkout process. When asked if I wanted a receipt, I declined, and we left the store. A few minutes later, my daughter changed her mind and wanted to return the item for something else at a different store. Upon returning to the original store, the staff informed me that I couldn’t process a return without a receipt. I explained that I had just been there less than ten minutes ago. The employee mentioned that they print receipts and suggested that the previous cashier likely tossed mine in the trash. I asked if she could check for it, as I believed it would be easy to find. However, she dismissed my request, saying that there were drinks in the trash and that it would be a mess to look through. She asked us if we wanted to pay cash or card and I said we don’t know yet because my daughter had $5 in cash that she wanted to spend there so if it’s more I will give her a card. She turned up her nose at me chuckled and said: “ no it’s definitely more” with a very condescending voice. Then she said it was $10. I said well then I will pay with a card. Then I smiled and said I only thought it would be around $5 because the grocery store has them for $2. She again said then go to the grocery store. I had to leave right away that tone of voice and demeanor is not something I would accept to subject my child to and therefore my time is better spent elsewhere. Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I came into Claire’s to get my ears pierced and was immediately met with the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. The employee, Em, was visibly laughing and chatting with a coworker before I walked up, but the second I approached she went completely cold. Her smile vanished, and she looked at me like I was an inconvenience. It felt like high-school bullying.
She barely spoke to me, had an annoyed tone the entire time, and just made the whole experience super uncomfortable. Getting a piercing should be exciting, but instead, I felt like I was bothering her by simply being there. Absolutely unprofessional and unwelcoming. I won’t be coming back.
