👎👎NEVER AGAIN! TERRIBLE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. My friend ate here previously and stated it was the best sushi he's had in Denver. We were excited as this was our last dinner together before some of us were flying out the next day. It was a Sunday evening dinner. My 3 friends and I have all worked in food service in some form or another. I believe we are all very gracious and patient people and have realistic expectations when it comes to food service. That said: We placed our name and waited 35 minutes for a table. We understood there was going to be a wait and were completely fine with this. Walked across the street to a cute record/book store. Got a text at 35 ish minutes that our table was ready. Met at the door by the host with a temperature screening. We were seated right in front of the restaurant, near the sushi station and the host station. You couldn't miss our table. Were then asked if we could be patient, as it would be a little bit of a wait till we could place our order. A young man brought us water. Host disappeared. We sat and chatted, figured out what we wanted, etc. We were not in a hurry, and enjoying our conversation. However, we then sat there for 45 minutes and NOT A SINGLE PERSON ADDRESSED US after given the initial cup of water. -No one asked if we wanted another beverage other than water. -No one gave us a status update or apologized for the continued wait. -No one took an appetizer order
In fact, this is what we observed: -there were a lot of takeout or to go orders, which meant there was no emphasis on patrons in house. -Host was quick to greet his friends and chat it up on the side walk or was on the phone. -when we attempted to get the attention of any of the staff, we were completely ignored, to the point that staff would make eye contact and look away or even walk away hurriedly into kitchen.
😞After over an hour of being absolutely disregarded, we decided to leave and find some other place to dine. 👉What was REALLY disappointing is that when we left, no one still acknowledged us AND to our now utter disgust, there was a table of 6 outside, which was seated after us and they had a table completely filled with food!! We had to walk past that on the way out. WHAT THE WORLD?!??? So, maybe their sushi is good, but my friends and all of our friends will never know as there are plenty of other establishments with actual customer service. Beyond...
Read moreThis place was just... okay. As someone who has eaten at many, many sushi places across the Denver area, at Michelin grade sushi places in several states, and sushi overseas, I've had a little bit of everything. Go Fish has been in tbe area for a very long time, and I love One Concept's other restaurants like Mikaku and Bronze Empire. This sushi, however, fell really short of what I would consider good. We went on Friday at late night happy hour, which was a busy time, but I don't think the number of guests contributed to the quality of the food.
there was a lot of rice per roll, to the point where the food was dense and difficult to eat the nori had sat on the sushi too long (maybe indicating that it was on the sushi bar for longer than it should have been after it was made), and became chewy and was no longer crisp and fresh I got quail eggs (a favorite of mine) and it was easy to see that the quail eggs were low quality because of their color. Instead of a nice golden yellow/orange they were a very pale yellow. The flavor was nonexistent because of this for their roll that was supposed to have a lot of special sauce (the Hot Orgasm) it barely had any. Other sushi restaurants in the area have a lot of fun with their hot rolls, and the sauce that they choose should be one of the star ingredients, especially if you're going to call it an orgasm roll. I expect the sushi to be creamy, loaded with mayo, and to look like its namesake. Other restaurants in the area have similarly named rolls and they are much more enjoyable.
I wish that this restaurant had lived up to its expectations. Our server was fantastic, the speed of service was great, but the sushi reminded me of an older restaurant that is allowed to pass based on reputation alone. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants in the same price range that deliver much better, consistent...
Read moreThe food was OK (should have been better for the price point), but the service was poor. This was not the fault of our server, but due to poor staffing, insufficient table coverage management, and front of the house decision making. We were late for our reservation due to a medical appointment and the host took our name off the list. They took my phone number when I made the reservation but never called us to ask or let us know, even though they told us when we arrived that they call when the table is ready. That was our fault, but they did say they call, which they don't. We did get a call after placing our name of the waiting list.
We were finally seated and our server was also working a 40(+/-)-person party. We waited for 45 minutes to try some Sake, our food took a very long time, and I finally the attention of a different server who could have brought us our drinks, but didn't, so we had to wait until the large party was done to pay our check and leave due to no coverage of our table by other servers. As a former server, I understand the exact situation our server was in and the House should have jumped in to assist. Catchy name, but the management at this restaurant should have done more to assist and our sushi was not as cold as it should have been. They didn't even give us a discount. I do not recommend this restaurant, we spent a very significant amount of time waiting for food and drinks, the sake came as we were ready to leave. Our server was very kind...
