Spicy Librarian — Local services in Denver

I rate this an E for effort. I had high hopes for this bookstore, expecting a true haven for romance readers, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. Despite being marketed as a specialty romance bookstore, the selection was shockingly sparse. I understand that they may have been busy at times, but even so, it was missing so many major romance authors—no Amy Daws, Pippa Grant, Max Monroe, Meghan Quinn, Helena Hunting, or even well-known LGBTQ authors like Eden Finley and Saxon James.

I was hoping to browse thoughtfully curated sections for different romance subgenres—indie self-published authors, sports romance, mafia romance, friends-to-enemies, and more. Instead, the store felt more like an Instagram backdrop than a true bookstore. Sure, the aesthetic is cute, but I didn’t come for a photo op—I came for books.

I love this place! I went after hearing from some family members and have found my new favorite bookstore! Specific notes below!

What was Great the entire vibe was amazing! I love how sex positive this place was and SUPER photogenic!! I thought there was a decent selection of books and LOVE to see BIPOC and LGBTQ+ options included the 18+ bunker was great! And so inclusive!! I noticed a few signs around that explains the “spice level” of the books based on chilli peppers. However, I only saw about 10 books in the entire store that had cards that indicated that. Since this is a spicy book store, I would have loved to see these represented more across the entire store to help me shop. ESPECIALLY since you only get 30 minutes of parking, the road parking was packed. I think the store could do better to accommodate to the quick shopping that many customers have to do since parking is tricky. Not their fault at all,...

Was really excited to finally visit this bookstore one weekend. But customers be warned- set an alarm on your phone for 30 minutes. I parked for 38 minutes- no harm, no foul right? Two weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from Parking Revenue Recovery Services stating I have a $92 fine for parking. What?!?!

I did some googling and found this is a scammy company. In fact- the CO Attorney General had an entire page for this company; and they have a 20-minute grace period. I printed this page from the attorney general out, sent in to the company saying I was well within my grace period. A week later, I get ANOTHER letter in the mail. It gets more scammy- they offer to discount my fine to $72.... What?!?!

Buyer beware- do NOT park in this lot. I will sadly not be visiting this store due to such a terrible experience. If the store would like to help defend me against the Parking Company, that'd be great; I'm sure I'm not the only one this has...
