They have what I'm looking for most of the time, and if I can't find it I can usually find someone nearby to help. However, there is a big lady who pushes a price tag cart around the store, and if she's suspicious of you she will follow you around from aisle to aisle acting like she's just labeling price tags, when it's obvious that she's just watching you closely in hopes that she can catch you stealing something. How do I know this? It's happened a couple times where I need a few items and I have to go from aisle to aisle to acquire them. Now let's be honest, it would be a HUGE coincidence that each item I need to look at she just happens to be doing price checks on those specific items. At the exact same time I'm looking at them. Then, like everybody else, I need the next item so I have to go to a completely different aisle in the store and, what do you know, she's right behind me. I even thought well maybe I'm being paranoid, so I tested the theory. I walked to a different aisle. And she's right behind me again. This is harassment. I've never stolen from any store, let alone Runnings. One time this literally happened on about five different items. So it's very obvious she is following me around the store. One time I was checking out the outdoor section, continued shopping, and want to check out. Then they sent a kid checkout register two strike up a random conversation with the cashier while I'm checking out so that he can determine whether or not I stole anything. Because of these several incidences, Runnings only...
Read moreRunnings. It's a home, farm/ranch, hunting, fishing, outdoor clothing (Work, or pleasure, Guide, or Client ), local business supplier. Small implement, implement attachment, (for non-rural folks, that means everything from the smallest mower and snowblower, generator, to all kinds of bigger machines attachments like tillers, graders, trailers, more stuff than you even know what it does! I buy my best, most comfortable socks from them. Spend a 12 hour working day in them, and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Same for my outer-wear when it's 30 below zero here in February. Tough Country, Tough Products! Oh, the home processing, cooking, smoking, cooking section can hardly be beat(even online!), they have it in stock! Need it, they got it! Still rural America suppliers for generations. they pride themselves for knowing the needs of their shoppers. Spices, rare culinary tools, parts for old cooking stuff! Amazing! Just a great overall "General Store", with more than I can write about now. Each store is laid out different, so, not like a "big box" store. These stores are "local". I've just dealt with Dickinson and Bismarck, ND. Still one of my best "go-to" stores, Open Weekends! Home Owner, or Maintenance Mechanic needing a few small plumbing, electrical, auto, hydraulic, fencing, Animal medicine supplies? Go...

In the general merchandise/tools section of the store, most of the staff is extremely haughty and rude; this has lost them thousands of dollars in sales from my household. I have heard about similar experiences from friends and acquaintances.
Sporting goods, on the other hand, has ALWAYS provided exceptional service. They have made Running's my first stop when I'm in the market for guns & ammo. They are also near the top of my list of stores for comparison shopping when I'm looking for archery equipment, knives, fishing gear, and even some backpacking gear and flashlights.
In the end, it's a bit of a toss up. I just take the good and just...
