*Update * I recently moved out of the Indigo due to job related financial/Covid situation and needed to break my lease. It took MONTHS to hear back from someone as I made sure to give as much advance notice as possible. I left messages...spoke w someone in person TWICE. I finally received an email the month I needed to move and an associate advised they would only take half of my security deposit due to the Covid situation. That was at the beginning of the month. Just this week I received an email saying they would would keeping my entire deposit. I have been asking for the total amount as deposits in NJ accrue interest and I have been ignored. For days....no one will respond to my email. While Indigo was an okay place to live for myself and daughter, it really has a lot of work to do. They are building a new apt building right next door where you are subject to trucks blocking your paid parking spot and even just getting in and out of the lot is complicated and unsafe. They have no notice about this construction either because they don't value their tenants...only the rent they collect. I will probably have to take Indigo to court for their lack of professionalism amongst other things. I wouldn't recommend this place at this point. The windows let air into the apt so much it feels like it's open. The cost of heat in the winter is an average of $300 a month because of the old huge machines they refuse to update on top of the drafty windows. The folks here just don't care.
It's very rare that I edit a review....especially a bad one...but The Indigo has become a much better place to live overall and I actually renewed my lease in June. There has been a lot of improvement and the people here are quite accommodating. You have to appreciate an establishment that tries to right their wrongs instead of ignoring their customers (tenants). It deserves to be recognized!
I stopped myself quite a few times from writing this review because there are a couple of really nice people that work here but it doesn't balance out my sheer displeasure of living here the past 3 months. While this apt looks really nice, it does not live up to its "appearance" which still could use some work. When I first moved in, the AC in my bedroom was not working. While maintenance replaced it immediately I found it odd that a major appliance such as that wouldn't be working properly for a brand new tenant. A few weeks later when I decided to do laundry, I realized my washing machine was not working. Someone came to look at it and said they fixed it. They did not. After that it took NUMEROUS emails, many of which maintenance never responded to unless I CC'd one of the managers and each time they came to look at it, they said they fixed it. After THREE tries I had to insist that the washing machine was NOT fixed and finally someone came by while I was home and came to the conclusion that: IT WAS NOT WORKING. This took about 2-3 weeks and finally I asked if I could just be provided w a new washing machine. They gave me one from another apt after the tenants had moved out and while it works, the lint collector in the dryer has a hole in it which is just annoying because lint ends up on the clothes anyway. I hadn't used my dishwasher until a couple months after moving in and to my surprise, there was an old crushed dish soap pod in it that look like it was left from the previous tenant. smh I was actually told my an E. Orange inspector that management never obtained a specific certificate before I moved in and I believe that to be true because it seems as if they just ushered me to move in without thoroughly inspecting the apt and making sure it was 100% for the new tenant. I now have a loud screeching noise coming from my toilet...its been happening for weeks now. I sent a maintenance request LAST Thursday....I'm STILL waiting for someone to get back to me. Living here has been truly a disappointing experience and though I've...
Read moreHey all I have to say do your research and personally i wouldn’t rent here, and here are some reasons why 1. Management is not responsive, you can call them but won’t get an answer or you can email them but they dont reply back only when they want to or when it’s convenient for them. 2. If your late on your rent and even if the month isn’t over and you tell them you will pay before the month is over they don’t care they will evict you FOR 1 MONTH LATE RENT sounds crazy to me if I’ve have known this I wouldn’t rent here and it’s not like I wasn’t trying to pay. 3. Maintenance / Property manager didn’t tell me that the walls leak water when it rain then causing mold to grow and discoloration on the walls and an odor. So well, I contacted maintenance and put in a maintenance request. They declined it or canceled it for whatever reason, so after a 1 month I put in another request because who want to live with mold and leaky walls and nobody contacted me. So I decided to contact the health department of East Orange, New Jersey, and they contacted management Then all of a sudden they want to come and fix whatever is messed up in the apartment now yall had a whole month why yall want to come now ? But hey if you like these kinda issues rent here if not then don’t. they just want money here don’t get scammed because I feel like a lot of people here go through this especially the mold and leaking and all they do is a temporary fix. Just want people to be aware cause this isn’t fair people work hard. And last thing don’t believe the 5 star reviews because if you try to look them people up they...
Read moreMy story starts out with Lisa the "Scheduling Specialist" scheduling me a virtual tour on a Friday at 11am. I join the call at 11am and of course thats too early for the agent to be there so I give her some time to join the call. At 11:10 I email Lisa to let her know I have joined and that nobody is there. She responds with "ill let the agent know you've logged on, let me know if you haven't connected with anybody by 11:30." So of course 11:30 rolls around and nobody joins. I email Lisa again to tell her that nobody has joined and that I wasted 30 minutes of my life waiting for nothing. Lisa says she's sorry and scheduled me for another virtual tour for 4 days later which is outrageous on its own. They should have just given me a courtesy tour right away. But anyways after multiple confirmation emails from Lisa to me about the scheduled date and time for my second attempt at a virtual tour, the time has finally come for my well awaited virtual tour with Indigo 141. I was so excited to finally get to see the apartment that I was thinking of moving into. Boy was I happy!
But to my surprise,....... I waste another 30 minutes of my life staring at a screen and once again nobody joins the call. So I email Lisa telling her that it happened yet again. They are obviously very unreliable. Instead of them emailing you reminders about the virtual tour, YOU should be calling THEM reminding THEM since they are incompetent. I guess I can also be blamed for this because I was dumb enough to believe that they wouldn't fail me again.
Fail me once shame on you, fail me twice...
