Hi, Hudson county girl here which simply stated means "humble and honest" most importantly not pretentious. I've watched this entire waterfront grow from junk yards and wild dogs roaming and I certainly don't forget what it once was and what it has become. It was never Beverly Hills, it was never rodeo drive, it was never a focal point for the rich and famous. However, I'm feeling the entitlement from the majority of people that have moved to this area, that the red carpet is to be rolled out 24 seven, and that is simply not the case. Rents are high here, yes they are. However, again if you go a mile to 5 miles west of here you will not experience much of a difference in rental costs, amenities, etc., and yet you do not have the convenience, the nightlife, dining and or the exposure to NYC along with breathtaking views anywhere else. I grew up in Weehawkin, and I love it here at the Eyster, the apartments are beautiful, fixtures keep the apartments bright and alive, the appliances are top rate, amenities are sufficient, and when you put everything together it balances out perfectly. Living anywhere is a give-and-take, sacrifice comes in to play for what you really need and what you really want, those are two completely different expectations. If you want privacy, buy a house, if you want quiet, do not move into a dog friendly building, if you want a large pool, move into a complex with an incredibly large pool, if you want to be close to the city, have a gorgeous apartment to entertain at home, a beautiful rooftop deck to entertain friends and family, a friendly and accommodating leasing office, some really great neighbors and great people to interact with on a daily basis, then definitely check out the Oyster, I'll even take you for a...
Read moreI came across the review by K Sung and felt compelled to write one myself. I have been living in Oyster since early 2017, and have my own experience to share.
I have regularly dealt with the leasing staff, Lester, Noora and Olivia over the last 15 months and have found all of them very professional, courteous and helpful. That said, I found K Sung's comments inaccurate, probably she could be more respectful to people (and their time) that are trying to support.
Miss Noora in particular has been my point of contact and she is the main reason I choose to remain a tenant in the building. Two months ago, I had given notice to Noora to vacate, as I wanted to move to Manhattan as my business is doing well. A week before moving, I decided to cancel the lease that I had signed in Manhattan and instead requested miss Noora to help me find a suitable apartment. It was pretty difficult for her as the type of unit I needed was not available. She still managed to accommodate me and even gave me an inventive to stay. I thank her and Lester for that.
I run a global executive recruiting firm so I know a thing or two about evaluating talent. I would encourage building owners management team to support the leasing team as they do a wonderful job.
Happy to answer if there are any further...
Read moreI have lived in The Oyster now for a year. I was first drawn to The Oyster when I was looking for a small, luxury building with modern convivences. I could not be happier. First, my apartment has spectacular views of Manhattan and the Hudson river; I can easily see the skyline from lower Manhattan all the way up to Harlem. The apartment has an open floor plan, high-end appliances and finishes, high ceilings and tons of windows. The building also has the advantages of being relatively small – such as attentive management and doorman, parking directly under the building. The management respond very quickly to any issues and the superintendent lives on the premises. The best rental complex in the...
