Madison Cafe & Grill — Restaurant in Edgewater

I had called around 10:09 a.m. for a table for 11 for 11:30 a.m. and upon arrival the table wasn’t ready and made us wait for about 10 minutes. The manager did say they were busy since it was sunday, and its understandable, but the issue is that they didn't have a table or attempted to have a table ready. They had to move a party of 4 that was already sitting out of the way to accommodate the tables which was really uncomfortable. We were asked how many people for a couple of times and with a condescending tone even though I had already stated that I had called about an hour ago and that my name and number were asked for as well with that information.

We were finally seated and given the menus…after 15 minutes nobody came to ask for our drinks which was already a long time waiting. In the meantine, I called the Cresskill location to see if there was space for our party and they said yes but that if we want the menu items from their location they can gladly call the manager in this location and tell them to share the Cresskill menu with us since the menu is drastically small compared to the Cresskill location. They called the manager to let him know and our server Ihad (not sure if spelled correctly) got to our table and when I asked about the menu, Ihad with a snotty and disdain attitude dismissed my question and blantly stated no, not possible.....Fine we decided to still stay.

We ordered the drinks and Ihad was bringing cups of water all carelessly and rushed when he drops three glass cups full of water on my sister and my 9 year old daughter. The glass cups fell on the floor and shattered everywhere. There were pieces of glass on the floor and on my sister's feet since she was wearing sandals. The server quickly apologized but didn’t seem genuine about it.

I’m extremely disappointed about this since I've been to this location before and the service was actually decent. I will no longer be returning to this location.

Hopefully the Cresskill location does not follow the footsteps of this location in Edgewater and maintains their pleasant staff...

My experience at Madison Cafe and Grill was overshadowed by careless and borderline disrespectful service. I went here for breakfast with my family for a special occasion, during which one of my party member’s omelette entree was brought out incorrectly. Upon bringing this to the server’s attention, he became argumentative but still offered to replace the order. The server did not replace the order with any kind of rush on the ticket, resulting in my guest having to wait around watching everyone else eat. The server also never came back to check on us or update us on how much longer it would be until my guest received her meal. When the delay was brought up to another server’s attention, the main server, who had not come to check on us the entire time, approached the table and snarkly replied “It will get here at some point today.” My guest waited 30 mins for her omelette remake to come out, but at that point everyone else had already finished eating and my guest did not feel comfortable eating by herself. The main server continued to avoid our table up until it was time to ask for the check. Even then he was observed to prepare the check and leave it on the counter for another server to bring to us. After 5 minutes of no one bringing us the check that he had prepared, he decided to just bring it himself. He placed it on the table without any comment, and walked away. To further his audacity, he applied automatic gratuity to the bill. Overall the service at this place was immature, petty, and lacking basic customer...

The waiter quickly apologized but didn’t seem genuine about it. I’m very disappointed about this as I’ve came here before but the service was better and the menu was the same as Cresskill’s location since they had recently opened when I first came. I will no longer be returning to this location. Hopefully the Cresskill location does not follow the footsteps of this location...
