For starters , I was recommended orange theory by a friend of mine three years ago because most of the gyms were far from where I lived, I never joined or thought about joining . Once they opened up in Edison I jumped on the opportunity or should I say I was motivated to go . IT IS AN INVESTMENT ! Talk about accountability, they charge you if you don’t go (I don’t find this annoying as you don’t want to be charged if you didn’t go to the class ) they also hold you accountable for tardiness , it’s a synchronized program and timing is huge so if you are late you miss the whole point of the workout ! You are given a 5 minute grace period and usually coaches work with you on time if they see you are actually motivated and regular . ABOUT THE GYM: Being that this gym is new , the equipment is top notch . However , cleanliness is their top priority. The coaches are extremely helpful, they walk you through the workout . The customize the program according to your skill level . They will always ask you before a work out if you have any injuries they should know . They always check on you to ensure , you don’t injure yourself . ABOUT THE PROGRAM : Your work out is treadmill, rower and floor based . as I said earlier , if you are motivated and regular YOU WILL see results . I am seeing them . I have not only lost weight I have gained endurance , built stamina and feel good . ABOUT THE COACHES : All the coaches so far at this gym of whom classes I have attended are great , Coach Kelly, Jamie, Sergio, Justin and Nicole. They play some upbeat music and are always there to fix your form or give you options. ABOUT THE STAFF : last but not the least , the staff at this gym are actually as welcoming and dedicated as the coaches. I recommend this...
Read moreGood facility. The people at the desk are great. Manager Anthony is awesome. Sergio and Lori both are amazing coaches with great personalities. The only coach I didn’t like was Nick who just flirts with the cute women in class and ignores the rest of the crowd.
The one big downside is that they will give new members deals to increase class size but won’t offer the same deal to current members. So you could be an older member paying higher for the same plan than a new member who joined after you. And you’re locked in on a higher rate while someone who joined after you has the same plan for less. Example:
I was paying 119 for elite and right under my nose they started offering the same elite plan for 99 a month to new Members and when I asked to be given the same deal I was told no that is for new members only. Which means loyalty is penalized as opposed to being rewarded. I opted out of the membership immediately. If everybody did the same then this shady practice will immediately be discontinued because this unethical tactic is based on the premise that existing members won’t leave and continue to pay higher prices while lower prices will attract new members. So the class is getting fuller, you are getting less of the coach’s attention, and the person next to you is paying less than you who joined after you for the same class! Imagine that.
Other than this shady pricing model, the place is nice and the studio is well maintained with good coaches. But! Pricing model penalizes loyalty and that’s...
Read moreI am very disappointed at the OTF/ Edison site. I love OTF, it is the Edison site that is terrible. I feel that they try to save $$ and take as much $$ from you as possible. I usually fluctuate between Edison and another site. I have been a member since 2019. Don’t get me wrong, the coaches and the customer service staff at the front desk are wonderful. I started going to this site since they opened.
Everything was perfect until little by little things slowly started to change. I am using in comparison the other site I go to, which has NEVER changed in 4 years that I have been going there. First, they don’t provide paper towels. Their excuse is because they are going “green”. However, some days they provide them and some days they don’t. So, which one is it?! Not to mention, other sites do provide paper towels at all times. Second, they charge $10 if you forget your OTF heart rate monitor- compared to $5 at the other place.
Lastly and the most upsetting, if you cancel a time for the same day, they will charge you the cancellation fee $12- compared to nothing. I pay the $180 a month membership. Charging customers more $$ and placing unnecessary inconvenience is...
