I’ve gone to this location on occasion while I was in school, even when I worked retail, and again recently (1.31.2023).
The aspect of working retail is important because I’m able to notice more about store organization, attitudes from staff, and when I’m being profiled. No one greeted me while entering and one worker kept a blank look on her face pretending to organize things conveniently near areas that I was looking at (one way associates profile to combat loss prevention). I eventually went straight up to her and asked if she worked there and she said yes and I asked a question about US shoe size vs the European sizing as I don’t buy shoes from Zara but was interested in a pair a customer tried on. She acted oblivious like she didn’t go through training, said she didn’t have a device when she was holding a phone with a red, aka blatantly visible, case, and she told me to look it up online. I wen to the shoes and tried some on, and she yet again pretended to fix a perfectly fine each of clothes while peering at me. So once I saw the labels on the shoes I informed her that the labels note the US and European sizes. If she knew that from “fixing” up the store, it isn’t hard to tell me.
Next, after finding some pieces I liked for my business casual looks, I wanted to try these pieces on to solidify my purchases. The fitting room was “closed” because staff were severely behind in clearing the fitting room, but allowed only some people to go in. I was sent from the women’s fitting room which was “closed” to the men’s fitting room which was also “closed”. When I got there, a short woman worker told me they were closed and said on her walkie while walking away to stop sending people to the men’s fitting room. I only eventually got to use that fitting room after trying on some of the clothes outside and a nice male worker allowed me to use them. Trying on clothes when my body is changing really helps with understanding the fit and makes me more likely to purchase.
After this, I waited online to purchase my clothes. When I got to the register, the second from the right which is close to the women’s clearance on the right hand of the department, this Hispanic lady with false eyelash extensions and a cropped ivory hoodie is quite animated talking to her coworker on the farthest right counter, gossiping about something that she was upset with another person about. This wouldn’t have been important if it wasn’t for the fact that she quickly carried the attitude from her personal life to interact with me. At one point I asked about a dress I wanted to purchase from clearance that was missing the ribbon that the dress came with and she was speaking so fast just rattling about a lot of nonsense and saying she can’t give me a discount, to which I clearly replied that I never asked for a discount, and her coworkers on either side looked at me then her and there was a pause. Idk why she would assume that I was asking for a discount and then say she knows I’m not asking for one after exhibiting her implicit bias.
Overall, I come here for convenience and nostalgia whenever I do decide to shop at Zara which isn’t frequently. Sometimes I interact with nice associates (which are mostly male and/or Black) but other times the attitude is what I’m met with and it’s uncalled for. If they keep going on like this and they start to see less foot traffic aside from sales, I wouldn’t...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. I purchased two boxes of bangles from Zara on July 29, 2025, they come in a box that displays the bracelets however it’s impossible to try them on without opening the package. There are four bangles in the package and each bangle is separated by the structure of the box which is to prevent theft. In order to wear or try on the bangles the consumer has to tear or cut the structure of the box.
I opened the boxes once I got home and to my surprise the bangles would not go past the width of my four fingers so I never had a chance to wear them. I brought them back to the store to return them on August 2, 2025. Each box cost $35.90 for a total of $71.80
The sales associate refused to allow me to return them and said they cannot resell them because the packaging was open and the box was torn (which is necessary to try on the bangles). I called the customer service number while I was in the store to file a formal complaint, the associate stated I would receive an email however I have yet to receive any communication from Zara.
There is no disclaimer that purchasing their jewelry is a final sale, there also are no sizing measurements on their packaging indicating the size of the bangles which would allow the consumer to make an informed decision when purchasing.
This practice can be considered a Deceptive or Unfair Trade Practices (Consumer Protection Law) because the product cannot reasonably be tried on or assessed without damaging the packaging, yet the return policy requires the packaging to be intact, this may be considered deceptive or unfair to consumers under state consumer protection laws.
The lack of size indication misleads consumers and prevents an informed purchasing decisions.
The return policy can be deemed an Unconscionable Return Policy because it contradicts practical usage (e.g., requiring intact packaging when trying the item inherently requires opening it) could be considered unconscionable or unfair in court. The policy states you can return jewelry as long as it’s within 30 days, the have not been worn and the packaging is intact.
In addition to them refusing my return, the store associate began speaking another language while at the register. I advised her that it made me feel uncomfortable and to speak English. She took the items I was purchasing as if she was going to ring them up. I began to call customer service on the phone in regard to the refusal of the return and the associate walked away from the register. About 10 mins went by and I asked another associate what was going on, at that point the manager came to the register and asked what happened and I replied I dont know she just walked away after giving me the customer service number to call. I also advised the manager that she was speaking in another language and the manager stated that the associate can speak in another language if she wants to. I then stated it was unprofessional and poor customer service. She proceeded to ring up my items and I left the store. The customer service associate on the phone apologized, he heard the entire...
Read morePlease open the fitting rooms for customers to use. It is irritating to be able to try on clothes from every other store except this one. I came here yesterday because it was my birthday and I needed a last minute outfit for my birthday dinner that night (what I ordered in the mail was delayed so I had to scramble to find something last minute). I get there, picked out a lot of wonderful options and was ready to try something on, just for me to be told that the fitting rooms are closed. I had to put my everything back and bought few dresses from Nordstrom, where the fitting room was open.. I also noticed that a LOT of customers are just resorting to trying on clothes on the floor, which is ridiculous. Saw customers left and right doing this. Two of the ladies had workout attire and took off their tops to try on the clothes. Luckily both were wearing sports bras, but paying customers shouldn’t be subjected to this. They were clearly comfortable enough to undress to try on clothes on the floor but I am not comfortable with doing that, so if that’s what it takes, I won’t shop here. And I’m not going to waste my time driving back and forth to try on clothes at home and return items I don’t like. It’s a hassle I’d prefer not to put up with. It is quite embarrassing to see that a store would rather it’s customers resort to undressing in front of strangers than to just offer the simple solution of privacy for customers to change and comfortability so that other customers don’t have to watch strangers undress. Just open up the...
