Waitress was horrible.. ordered water with lemon, but only got water.. had to ask for lemon 3 times and drinks at the table were left empty and not refilled until we asked. My other half asked for ginger dressing on the side but never got it. The real disappointment was that my meal the Benihana trio ($45) was supposed to come with “steamed” rice (not fried rice as I thought) so ordering what I wanted was confusing because the waitress asked me did I want to upgrade to noodles to which I said yes, thinking I would get rice and noodles (it’s poorly explained or not explained at all). I ended up not getting any rice but only noodles from the chef (who was great) . When I asked the waitress was I supposed to get rice, she said it was a choice of rice or noodles but I was confused why she asked if I wanted to “upgrade” to noodles in the beginning. I ended up having fried rice made from the back kitchen as the noodle portion was very small and my meat came way after the noodles so I had nothing to complement my meat when eating until the rice came out. Finally feeling like I had a proper meal which in the end when the bill came I was charged an extre $5 for noodles and $5 for fried rice (keep in mind my order came with steamed rice so why am I paying $10 more for making it fried and having a few noodles that covered maybe a quarter of my plate? Then I asked the waitress if I would get the green tea and ice cream included in my meal to which she said “it’s only if you request it” which sounded like a complete scam since I’m paying for it. I was also disappointed that the seating was very tight. I’m a chunky girl (5’3 / 220lbs) with larger breasts and my breasts had no space to “breathe”. My other half to my right kept talking to the guy (from another party) to my left and were talking directly over my food. I’m sure I unknowingly ate some of their spit. No Covid or general common sense health protocols were in place at the table. I def expected more space between ppl, especially parties from other families but there was no distancing at all. It seems everything was about money here and no thought or care for the customer. The chef was the only saving grace of the night after my bill topped $100 for 2ppl after leaving an undeserved tip for the service. I wouldn’t go back anytime soon. I will try UYshee Sushi (I think that’s how you spell it) in...
Read moreI have been a patron of Benihana's for well over a decade. I have great experiences and not so great experiences. Today was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I had a reservation for a birthday dinner party of 8. I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be seated after my reservation time. I did not complain at all. It was busy so I totally understood. We waited an additional half hour for drinks, soups and salads, all of which we received when the chef arrived at the table. One of my guests had 4 eyelashes in their soup. They were offered another and it was declined by personal choice. I excused it. When the chef served the rice it contained a long strand of hair and again was served to the same guest. By this time I am furious. The manager was called to the table. She apologizes and offers to give the guest a new bowl of rice and whatever else was on the plate at the time she took it away. She also rudely stated before she left the table with the plate, that "no one in the back has long hair". Everyone that has ever been to this establishment knows that everyone's rice comes on a tray together. As a manager, she should have never made that comment and she should've replaced the entire tray of rice as well as requested for the chef to clean the grill. At this point it seemed as if she was accusing of us lying along with the fact that everyone is disgusted now and no one wants to eat their food. All patrons of this establishment once again know it is very expensive to dine at Benihana's. We were not compensated for a single thing which was repulsive. The manager was extremely rude and nasty and never has a pleasant demeanor despite the day or time. I am extremely disappointed. Both the chef and the waitress were more accommodating than the actual manager which is pretty sad. I had a conversation with the manager after the second incident asking for my guest to be compensated for something and she said ok with an attitude and walked away. We never saw her again. I know customer service has changed drastically with the high demands of staff etc but I never expected this from a restaurant I frequent at least once or...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Benihana today because I received a $30. Coupon for my birthday in August. First- our server was very nice but I don’t think he understood what we had requested. We wanted one glass of water, one seltzer and One specialty drink a Guava Goddess. The drink was $15.70 for one glass of Ketel One Vodka, Orange Grand Marnier, and Guava Puree! I did not bother to correct the bartender because I’ll just write a review! The server did not bring the glass of seltzer nor the glass of water. And HE decided to bring two of the specialty cocktails at $15.70 each! We only ordered one glass. We did not correct him because, like I said, I’ll write a review to let customers know about my experience! And our drinks had the vodka, guava puree But it had NO Orange Grand Marnier at all! We did not complain but we Will write a review to let customers know - to be sure to check what you’re paying for! At this Benihana- Menlo Park NJ- you do not always get what you’re supposed to get! My husband ordered the Boat Salmon- it was good. We requested No added salt and very little soy. It was done correctly, thank you! I ordered the ( no garlic) Benihana Trio for $49.60. They cooked it as I requested. Thank you! I was Supposed to get filet mignon pieces, chicken pieces and the menu said Colossal Shrimp! I think I got maybe one or two colossal shrimp that were cut up into two pieces BUT they threw in two regular small shrimp! The server was nice but not that attentive because he was busy behind the bar. We requested to sit at the bar area! The lady that removed the dishes and glasses off our table was excellent! She was very nice and polite and attentive! Thank you! We went in there to see how the restaurant was with an open mind. My husband and I spent $79.08 after the $30. Off coupon then we gave 20% tip $21.00. Our total for lunch was $100.08 for two cocktails, two entrees. We are not complaining but Advising customers, that you do not always get what you’re paying for! We will not be going to Benihanas anytime...
