I’ve been a member at this gym and others in the network for some time, and I’ve always had positive experiences—until my recent visit on Wednesday, June 18th around 9:30 AM. Upon arrival with my friend, we briefly spoke with the front desk associate. While standing near the front area, I suddenly felt something tugging at my ankle. I looked down to find that a vacuum cord had wrapped around my legs. As I stepped out of it, the cord then tangled around my friend’s ankle as well. No warning was given, and no one said “excuse me” or gave any sort of courtesy heads-up. This was surprising, as in every other club I’ve visited, team members have always been respectful and communicative when cleaning near members. Unfortunately, the situation escalated due to how the manager (Caleb) handled it. Rather than addressing the issue directly or offering a simple apology, he made a dismissive comment to my friend—in a condescending tone and from across the room—while leaning on a trash can. He did not acknowledge me at all, despite the fact that I was the one directly affected. We were in the middle of a workout, and other members were present, making the interaction even more inappropriate and uncomfortable. Later, I spoke with another team member who seemed shocked by what had happened. I was told the manager simply reminded staff to “be aware when vacuuming,” but that feels like an inadequate response, especially given how unsafe and targeted the experience felt. It’s also concerning that this manager may have a personal issue with my friend’s boyfriend, who is a staff member, which raises questions about whether this incident was truly accidental.To make matters worse, I found out that video footage of the incident was shown to staff members who weren’t present at the time. That felt like an unnecessary breach of privacy and further illustrates the lack of professionalism from management.I’m a paying member who came in for a workout—not to be physically entangled by equipment or treated disrespectfully by the very people responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment. Read morePlanet Fitness has some of the best equipment to workout with I have ever seen. The local staff are extremely good at their jobs and the place is always clean. My only issue with Planet Fitness has to do with the people who are in control of the financial situation. They have zero regard for a person's situation. They only have interest in getting your money. If you don't have enough in your account to pay them they start harassing you with emails and text messages as if you are trying to rob them. It got so annoying that I had to block their phone number and email address once I knew how greedy they can behave. Especially when it came time to collect their annual fee. I didn't have enough money for the transaction for an extra week so they charged me ten dollars as a late fee. Even though it's definitely not listed in the advertisement. And they don't have a mechanism for charging a late fee. So after I paid it they didn't charge me for the month. In other words they just wanted the fee for the next month a month early. Which is why I called them greedy. But the people who work in the gym don't have anything to do with the people who work in administration and finance. But the new crew happens to be the absolute worst team planet fitness have in almost 6 years that I been a member. I had heard the employees talk bad about black kids. Talking about they act like animal that comment hurt my soul, I also see when some the employees friend and family member come in to workout with no charge But if a member having problem with a bill past do for a day they had embarrassed them and kick them out the gym in front other people I witnessed this. Employees sitting on top of the front desk super unprofessional run the tape back one month cameras don’t lie.
