After two Papa John's location opened in locations that seemed doomed (imho) and subsequently closed (unsurprisingly) in the past decade or so, there is finally a new PJ in a well lit high traffic area that is convenient to many people. And its also near a national pizza chain known for their iconic red roof (our is now brown :-( these days) and another that was formerly known for 29minutes and 59seconds or less (and avoid the Noid).
Today we drove by and finally they are open. Bought two medium pies and bownies. The Brownies were fine, tasted just like the ones from "red roof" that we had a new nights ago (when we thought PJ would be open - based on an employee outside saying as much last week - but then they were not open just yet .. so bought pizza at the competition). The 12" mediums seems a little small. Didn't quite fill the box like they should. Probably needed to be stretched out some more. The Extra Cheese pie didn't seem all that "extra" cheesy. And the mushroom and pepperoni pie didn't seem to have pepperoni. Then I discovered a thin, sparse layer hiding under the cheese. I guess they didn't want to draw attention to how little pepperoni they used. I couldn't taste it, but at least it wasn't greasy.
But the beef with the order (other than the smallness) was the big air bubble. One slice (which was cut small to begin with) had basically no sauce or cheese on it. Air bubbles do happen but knowing people that have worked in the pizza biz had told me long ago how you can watch out for this as the pies bake. They even had a long wooden stick (like a broom handle) with a pointy thing on the end to pop bubbles. Too bad PJ doesn't or hasn't trained their new staff. Hopefully things will improve. But as for now, I'll keep getting my pizza elsewhere and wait a month or two (or three) for the...
Read moreThere is only a "QUALITY GUARANTEE", and For carry-out orders, the Quality Guarantee must be claimed in-store by bringing the original pizza order to the same restaurant where the pizza was ordered and made. My issue wouldn't have been noticable with a quick peek into the pizza box, because I was lucky to order the EPIC STUFFED CRUST with mozzarella and "ricotta" in the crust... And that's where my unsatisfied cravings were met. I picked up my pizza around 9:45pm on one of the coldest nights this year, so I was paying more attention to trying not to freeze and assumed that my specialty pizza was just as special as the commercial made them out to be. After paying $27.00 for 1 large pizza, I drove 25 minutes to get to my eating destination. I finally get to sit down and grab a slice, and to my surprise there was nothing special at all, NO sign of "ricotta" in the crust anywhere, and since it was so late in the night, there was no way to go 25 minutes back follow the restaurants QUALITY GUARANTEE protocols to get my equal value replacement, so I figure a quality control warning should be available to others so they won't make the same mistake i did. This is just another "the commercial is better than the real thing" situation. Next time I have $27.00, I'll find somewhere else to spend it that doesn't have so many strict guidelines if I find myself not...
Read moreI placed a order at 2:34 pm today and called the store right after to tell the manager I only had $100 bill my order was over $50 please make sure the driver has change when he comes. They said no problem they are calling the driver now. The driver arrives and does not have change and calls his boss that never informed him. He calls the store and the same man I spoke to is speaking with him and never informed him. So this whole process took an extra 20 mins outside of the house, my pizza was cold because he already removed items for bag. The man on the phone ( manager) was not helpful to this situation at all. The driver suggested I just tip him $50.00. I was going to tip 15.00 which is a lot for right down the street. I said I’ll give you the $100 can you please bring back change. The manager should have told you I’m sorry. It wasn’t the drivers fault. I then realized they forgot some of my items so had to call back to the store again including my drinks. I asked the driver if he had them he said no. It is now 4:20 and I have yet to receive my change or my other items. The service is terrible. The pizza was burnt not well done but completely cold cardboard. You would think you’d have a easier time being a franchise but nothing but disorganization. The only reason I am giving two stars is the cookie...
