So I decided to take my daughter out to dinner for the first time in almost two years. We love the Texas Roadhouse in Sicklerville and have gotten take out from this location twice with no problem. Tonight unfortunately was not a great experience. We came in about 5:15 and was seated at the bar area. I ordered a margarita and my daughter ordered a lemonade, she returned with my daughters lemonade in a kids cup- my daughter is clearly a teenager, but as a former waitress and bartender I thought it was just a way to make sure underage kids in the bar area didn’t get alcohol by mistake. She came back to take the order, i ordered a full slab of ribs and only then was I told that there were only side ribs available and no sirloin steak.. well as a former waitress every place I worked always did the curtesy of letting customers know what they were out of. But not here so I can only assume it was the restaurants way of trying to get customers to stay, but at what cost- I ended up ordering the salmon, corn, a loaded baked potato and the side of ribs.. the ribs were good, the salmon was ok, the corn was watered down, and the baked potato was nearly cold- the order came out on 4 different plates, which was ridiculous- then my 14 teen year old daughter ordered a plain hamburger with onions- she got 2 mini burgers on dinner rolls, that’s not what she ordered then when I read the receipt the bartender/ waitress give her a kids meal…not what we orders -that said.. I tipped 20% because the drink was decent and service was fast.. but I’m aware of the beef shortage-u guys should do the curtesy of letting customers know what’s available before they order- I spent over 50$ on a meal that my daughter didn’t order and something I could have made at home..I did not talk to the waitress/ bartender about it because she looked like she was having a rough night, contemplating her career choices…it’s just not the way to keep customers or treat customers- so let this be a warning if ur going there to eat ask before you sit what are they out of.. this was very frustrating and it’s not my job to ask what are out of especially since it’s one of the things...
Read moreI wish this was a joke but my significant other and I ordered two porterhouses medium rare at Texas Roadhouse. Both the steaks came out well done. Our server knew the steaks were incorrectly cooked by how long it took for the kitchen to cook them. We cut into them, well done - she took the steaks back. The second set of steaks: one was well done, the other was inconsistently cooked but medium. My boyfriend kept his steak only to be disappointed when he got home and ate it (he didn't eat there cause he lost his appetite waiting for my steak to come out, he didn't want to be rude and eat his steak alone. b By the time he wanted to eat, it was cold). The second well done steak was sent back. The third steak was sent out literally raw. Outside was seared, inside was blue and cold to the touch. We were appalled. I took a picture of the so called, "medium rare" steak. They took the exact steak back and put it back on the grill, it came back well done. At this point it was offered that we could order another item. We came there for porterhouses not another item but we indulged as we had already been sitting at the table for 2 hours of which an hour was us just waiting for steaks to be remade. We ordered a ribeye. The ribeye came out medium well instead of medium rare. At this point we're exhausted and hungry, we took it to go, worst case we'd feed what was an expensive steak to the dogs as to not let another cut of meat go to waste. We went to McDonald's and got burgers that night. I strongly felt our entire meal should have been comped, in addition to something for next time rather than the one steak being comped. We had been looking forward to trying Texas Roadhouse for the first time for awhile - truly disappointed. The best thing about Texas Roadhouse was our server, Madison. She tried very hard to make sure we got our steaks cooked correctly. She was very pleasant. She did a fantastic job despite the catastrophic performance...
Read moreWent for the first time last week, taking my two kids and wife out to celebrate my wife's birthday. I really loved the atmosphere...fun, festive, Cowboy-themed and , yes, a little loud.
The bread is to die for and our attentive waitress brought out about 6 refills.
I've been cooking filet mignons at home for about two years now and while no one will confuse me with Gordon Ramsey, I'm pretty good (It's kinda hard to ruin a filet). Thus, I've become a little more selective when ordering FM out and the filet at TR was delicious. My daughter's BBQ Chicken was good, and she's a picky eater. My son was not thrilled with his hamburger...it was indeed a little over cooked and he stated it tasted like steak on a bun. I had a bite and agreed. Burgers don't need to be fancy, esp for a kid.
Perhaps best to order all entrees at this location on the less-cooked side. Just my opinion here.
My wife's Prime Rib was off...we both agreed it had a pork-like taste to it, which we do not like. We brought this to our servers attention, the manager came out quickly to hear our concerns and without question, replaced it was a Rib Eye steak, which was delicious. Even had it for lunch the next day as we were all kinda stuffed toward the end of the meal. (I blame the unbelievable warm and fresh bread!).
The margaritas were very good, as well. There was a bit of a wait for the entrees to come out, but this tells me it was cooked fresh, not re-heated.
The prices were very reasonable, especially for a mid-level steak house. It's definitely a notch or two above a an Outback or Longhorn, although I haven't been to the latter two in a few years as it's certainly less expensive to cook steaks at home.
But we went to TR for the atmosphere, and of course the steaks, and we were not disappointed. I look forward to...
