Oakwood Mall — Local services in Enid

Our poor mall. I remember when it was built. Stores were packed, the food court had a lot of variety and tables were filled. People walked for exercise. It was a great place to socialize and shop. Christmas was pretty cool there too.. Now its a bit of a dump. Enid residents don't support anything anymore. Take a dang poll and find out why. Enid is NOT a great place to live. Halloween downtown has its contirbutors, but the same ones over n over. The costume contest parade is laughable. 10 people? Enid is FULL of tightwads and it shows in what we have to offer. 4th of july fireworks barely get paid for. Kingfisher has an awesome Christmas drive through of lights....Enid businesses have no interest in making Enid special..no wonder its a dump. We have city ordinances but constantly see lawns with over foot tall grass. Broken dump furniture on porches and yards. Way to go Enid. Swelling...

So very sad to see this mall being so vacant. This was always a fun, thriving place to shop, just walk around, sit on benches and people watch and snack & visit in the Food Court.

I don't know why businesses left...it's been said to me that the City of Enid stopped supporting it in favor of the old but new again strip mall type settings. I still like the comfort of being inside and going from store to store, out of the weather.

Progress is good, I suppose. I still miss way back in the days when shopping downtown was the place to be. Now I miss the mall. I go there for Dillard's and J.C. Penney's, but never actually walk out in the mall anymore because Dillard's is at one end, then people drive to Penney's, which is on the other end. Another thing I miss here is Hastings....

I had called about a scaffolding they had in the paper for $169.95 to see if they had one. I was told they did so we drove from Woodward Ok to Enid Ok. so we could buy it. When we got there and went in to get it the scaffolding didn't have a sale price on it. Just the $229.95 tag tried to ask a gentleman about it he said he would check and get back with me well he never came back. So after about 20 minutes we left and went next door to Tractor Supply. The two gentleman we talked with in Harbor Freight weren't very helpful at all, I'm not interested in going back at all, unless we get one of the women...
