Stopped by this jewelry store 2 times in one day and liked the merchandise but the owner was in a different class. Upon entering the store it was very cluttered and there are boxes everywhere. Looks like he just moved in or is getting ready to move out. But it’s evident that this is just how he operates. This makes it hard to browse the cases. 80% of the individual pieces of jewelry aren’t marked with a price. So you have to take each piece to him and ask how much, this is a nuisance. While I was waiting in line to ask the price on a piece he seemed more interested in flirting with a teenager that came in. I left to shop other stores instead. But unfortunately I fell in love with a piece in this shop and went back to purchase later. This time I had my kids with me and they wanted to buy a bag of polished rocks for $5.95. They were looking through the box and hunting for “the best” ones. The owner yelled that we had to move out of the aisle, I turned around expecting a crowd waiting but it was only a couple walking in the door. It’s hard when you have only 18” of walking space between the stacks of boxes. I told the kids to finish so we could leave. They both filled their bag and we went up to pay. He emptied their bag of rocks and said they used the wrong size of bag. He said they had precious rocks in a died rock size bag. At this point I wanted to leave without buying anything but I fell in love with the jewelry piece I found. I told my kids to get the smaller bag so we could pay and just leave. He piped up and told my kids they couldn’t dig through to find their favorite rocks. Apparently he doesn’t have kids and has never been around any either. My husband was furious and couldn’t believe how rude and unprofessional he was. While he was cleaning my jewelry he dropped it. He never acknowledged it but I made sure to inspect it before we left to see if the stone fractured. To sum up his store has nice pieces at fair prices but he is rude and unprofessional as well as extremely disorganized. Go somewhere else...
Read moreMy husband and I took a weekend trip to Estes. GemFire was the first store we stopped at. It was, by far, the HIGHLIGHT of the trip. We spent the most time in this store compared to all the stores we stopped at. I was able to find literally every single item on my list that I had been struggling to find in my home town. Shawn, the owner, answered questions, gave input, and even spent the time to search his inventory for a specific style of piece I fell in love with.
Shawn has done, in my opinion as a customer, an absolute bang-out job of organizing and displaying his extensive selection of high-quality products. At one point, he offered to walk around his shop and help me pick things out, one-by-one. Anytime I asked a question about where something was located, he could tell me immediately where it would be. It was such a glorious treasure hunt for my goodies!
He has anything and everything your heart desires ... and the knowledge to back it up! This gentleman cares about his customers and his business.
While we were still browsing, another couple was checking out. It appeared as if they had been long-time friends (or repeat customers, I don't know!). He spent the same time and shared compassion with them as he did with us even though we were complete strangers to him. We felt welcome and comfortable in his store from the first step inside to the final moments of our experience.
Shawn even took the time to conversate with us before we parted ways. It was such an insightful and genuine conversation about life and values. My husband and I left feeling enlightened, heard, and seen. Learning a bit more about who Shawn is and what he is about sheds light on how he cares for his business. He is thoughtful and thorough and genuinely cares.
GemFire will forever be on our list of favorite shops....
Read moreI was browsing the store and found a ring I absolutely loved, but it didn’t have a price tag on it. Mostly everything else had a price tag and I knew this ring almost definitely be more than I wanted to spend on a single piece of jewelry but in the hopes it was in my price point I brought it up to the counter to ask what the price was. The man weighed it and told me it was $38 and silver prices have gone up in the past year. I offered to go put it back on the shelf because I wasn’t going to buy it after hearing the price but he was cleaning it so I didn’t end up taking it back to the shelf. He asked me how much I would have wanted to pay for it and I’ll be honest most of my jewelry comes from thrift stores and I’ve never paid more than $30 on a piece of jewelry, so I told him I’d probably want to pay $10 for it, absolutely maximum would be $20 and I told him I’m used to thrift store prices, I was pretty joking about it cause I knew that was unrealistic. After I said that I got a lecture on how this place wasn’t a thrift store and how businesses need to make money and he mansplained how thrift stores work to me. He went on and said something about “it would be hard to eat in a restaurant after dumpster diving”. He was very unfriendly and unpleasant. My dad was with me and he was going to buy a $25 pair of earring for my sister but he ended up putting them back and we walked out of the store because of how ticked off he got from my answer to his question about how much I would have wanted to pay. He’s got some great pieces in that store but I cannot support someone that’s so bad at...
