Can't believe I'm leaving a 1* review because my family has done business with verns for almost 20 years. I am currently disabled and sleep in a recliner because of it. My Recliner broke so my brother went to verns(like we always have done in the past) to find me a replacement chair. Because of my injury I need a chair that doesn't rock and will comfortably support me because I have some extra baggage on me which is hard to lose because of my disability. My brother can't find the exact chair I was looking for but found a powered recliner that looks like it will get the job done. My brother buys it with the rent to own and brings home the same day. Because it's powered you press a button to raise the leg rest but as soon as I do this the chair tips over to where it almost kicks me out. Because of my disability I can't lift myself off of the floor so I had to call the fire department who helped me up and we tried to lift the leg rest with the fire department still there just in case and the chair flipped forward again almost pushing me to the floor. So the fire department helped me up again. Obviously this is an issue. My brother called verns this morning 8/25/20 looking to exchange this Recliner because we can't use it. My brother was told because of the Covid-19 situation they aren't taking any returns. I asked my brother if they mentioned that to him when they sold the chair to him and they did not. So I called hoping to talk over my situation and asked for the owner. I was told the owner doesn't take calls and would need to come in if I wanted to talk to him. Because of my disability it is almost impossible for me to go to verns and talk to him in person. So the person who I was talking to transferred me to the general manager. Almost instantly this person was extremely hostile as I tried to explain the situation. I asked why he was being hostile and he said he is under a lot of stress and paper work and had to talk to my brother 3 times. I said I am not being rude and he said he wasn't being hostile just under stress. I brought up that my brother was never told that they won't do exchanges because of covid-19 when they were doing the paperwork for rent to own. He responds telling me that what he discussed with my brother is between him and my brother and that he did my brother a favor by making this a rent to own deal because he says they aren't doing rent to own right now. I responded that I appreciated that they did my brother a favor(isn't the store called verns rent to own?) but we can't use use this chair to which he responded have a nice day and hung up on me. I honestly can't believe verns would treat me like this. This is supposed to be verns GM? Again we've done business with verns for 20 years give or take and this is how my family was treated by verns. I called up furniture design center and explained the situation with verns and they are going to try to help me out. Long story short im stuck making monthly payments of 110 to verns for the next couple of years for a chair I can't use and I will never do business with verns again. Do yourself a favor and stay away from verns and go to furniture design center or one of the other local furniture stores because verns has no problem treating long time...
Read moreI have bought many things at Verns furniture in the past and did not have a problem UNTIL my LG dryer quit working and I had to use my 5 year warranty that I had purchased through them..It has now been almost 2 months and NO DRYER. It all started when they gave me the complete run around trying to "find" wether or not I had purchased a warranty..I did. Then after a week or so of blowing me off they told me the repair place that worked on LG did not come to my location, so, making themselves seem as if they were going out of their way to help, they offered to pick up my dryer and leave me a loaner (a VERY old loaner) In the two months that they have had my dryer they have never called to let me know what was going on..when I called them they would almost always say "we are soo busy we will call you back.."and never did. Finally last week I demanded to know what was going on with my dryer..they then blamed LG and the repair place coastal appliance for not fixing it, not having the parts etc.. When I threatened to call coastal appliance and LG myself..suddenly my dryer was fixed..that was a week ago. I offered to pick my dryer up and they then said that they were not going to pick it up from coaster appliance until this week and they would bring it down next week no matter what..They have NOT and are now saying will not until next week? I am disgusted with the service at Verns furniture. I have never been through this much hell trying to get something fixed WITH A WARRANTY. This is wrong. All I want is my dryer. We have been lied to continually from this company and I will never purchase anything...
Read moreBought a mattress from Vern’s years ago and it was time for a new one so we went back and realized our mattress was still in warranty, so we went ahead and started the process to see if we would get approved for a new one. They first told me it would take two weeks to see if we were approved or not, called in at two weeks because I hadn’t heard from them and they said it will actually take 3-5 weeks, so I called again at five because I still hadn’t heard anything. Then finally at five weeks I call and they say they can’t find our email with the photos or the claim, I was frustrated obviously because it had been five weeks and didn’t want to start the process over. They ended up finding the email and photos and then said we were approved, then finally we order the mattress and they say okay it will be in and delivered by end of month, here we are almost two weeks into April and supposed to be delivered between 1-3 so I rescheduled my whole day around this delivery and then called to say it actually would be anytime between 1-4. Then finally, got the mattress delivered and they delivered the wrong size and will not get us the size we ordered so the king size mattress will not fit on our California king sized bed frame. So frustrating from start to finish working with them, will NEVER do business...
