Liberty Tattoo — Local services in Fairbanks

Yesterday 3/14/19 I had been searching all over to find a tattoo shop so I could get 2 small tattoos done. Everywhere was booked up for weeks. I was recommended to try contacting liberty and so when they opened they told me they could get me in at 6pm. They called me later and moved my appointment to 5 which was awesome! My tattoo artist was George he did great work fairly light hand and great after care instructions as well as walking through the process and explained what he was doing. These weren’t my first tattoos so I knew what to expect but he still made sure I was sure about everything even once he started. I love the pieces and will definitely be going back to him for future tattoos as long as I’m in Fairbanks. Liberty tattoo in general was very welcoming and friendly open environment where the customers and artists were very relaxed. The atmosphere was very kind and professional very pleased with everyone I interacted with. From the moment I stepped in the shop I was treated as a regular the gentleman at the counter (unfortunately I forget his name) sized up my tattoos for me before my appointment so that it didn’t take any extra time made sure they were exactly how I wanted them. The men in this shop ran a shady practice. We placed a deposit in Feb for an April tattoo. Anthony was never available for discussion of the piece. Then all the drama publically with other Artists and low and behold they have to shut down all operations. Barely communicating and made an appointment without notifying us of the time or date. So from early April to JULY with no notification, no communication from the artist ever only a man who acts as the go between who canceled the original appointment and never called with a secondary. We informed them we were no longer comfortable moving forward and that we wanted our deposit back. We were told we could pick up our deposit today and when we arrived were told that we “no called no show” for an appointment we were never informed nor given the opportunity to arrive late for. Mind you Anthony had put ZERO work into this piece. Today they offered a voucher or store credit as Anthony skipped out so as not to even own the mistakes. At this point we do not trust the integrity of this artist or this shop. Despite the works we have seen their business practices are questionable and the cowardly actions do not...

Probably the best tattoo shop you'll find in Fairbanks. They won't overprice you, and they'll be honest with what they can and can't do. Unlike other places around town, including BPU, they overprice you for things they can barely do, and it's really just hit and miss. With all the tattoos i've gotten, i've been super happy with the linework, shading, and overall quality for the price that I pay. They also have the cleanest shop that's inviting, instead of other shops that look sketchy, or shops that are mostly a "hangout" spot for teens to play in. I know for a fact the artists here have more years of experience than most of the others around town. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who has had terrible experiences with other shops, those who want a coverup from other artists around here who think they're "superstars", and those who want a tattoo, but don't know...
