ALERT
This past December, we walked in after breakfast to just look at dining tables, as we were looking at different styles. We had absolutely no intention of buying anything and we had hoped to be in and out in 15 minutes. Upon walking in Brett F. greeted us and we were very up front and said we were just looking and not buying anything. He said okay and said he’d be around. After about 7 minutes he started following us around and doing the pushy sales guy thing. We are a young couple and were just being nice and entertained the sales guy. After saying we weren’t interested multiple times, he insisted that we at least create an account and add the table that we were looking at to the shopping cart. That way it would be there when we were ready to purchase. We aren’t rude people and didn’t really know how to say no, so we created an account… except somehow we then were pushed into signing up for a credit card that we did not want.
We ended up getting approved and he ended up trying to get us to make the purchase. After saying no multiple times my fiancé ended up caving and said sure even though we really were not in the market and realistically did not have the money to purchase anything. At this point we had been in the store for over an hour and we were leaving with something we did not want. Upon leaving the store we immediately call corporate and canceled the order and that was the last of it, so we thought. We ended up getting the credit card in the mail a handful of weeks later and just put the whole thing in our file cabinet.
About two months ago, we got a notification through the Wells Fargo app. (We already had a Wells Fargo credit card, so the bobs account automatically was tied to our original account). The notification said we had over $6000 on the credit card from a purchase out in Arizona. (We live in Ohio) After trying to call the Arizona store and calling corporate, they said we didn’t exist in their system and had no record of us and they said that they couldn’t do anything about the purchase on the credit card. A day later another purchase was made and there was now almost $12,000 on this credit card and it was maxed out. But we were only ever approved for $6000. That means, someone asked for a credit increase and it was granted and then they made another purchase.
Keep in mind, we were only notified because of the Wells Fargo connection through the app. If we did not already have the Wells Fargo credit card, we would have never known about these purchases. So we called again and they said they don’t have any of our information on file, including our names, our addresses, our emails or our phone numbers.
We had to dispute everything and at one point, they said that the purchases were valid and they sent us the order and all the information on there was my fiancé’s name but none of our information and it was in Arizona. We then begin spending weeks and weeks, and hours on the phone with little help or information. It only just was fully disputed and resolved and now the account is finally closed.
No one can tell us how or why we no longer exist in their system, or how the credit increase was requested and granted or how all the fraudulent orders were placed.
We very much feel that this is some sort of inside job because there is really just no other explanation. Please steer clear of this company because it seems very very shady! I do not trust the sales associates and I absolutely do not trust this company.
We absolutely do not...
Read more2/2 of the review (spilt in half). At that point, I am totally done with Bob's discounted furniture, and I know that each Rep might provide wrong information or fake promises in their own way -- so to save myself the trouble, I ask Rep D, before he hangs up, to confirm the return address with me. However, I simply cannot hear clearly what he says, and I asked him to send the exact return address to the email. Rep D says the email will arrive in 5-10 mins -- and OF COURSE it did not arrive at all! What is more interesting is that, the refund just disappears -- yep I just checked and the refund is gone. Interesting firm isn't it. So, on 08/23, I am now stuck with the protector, I have not yet got my refund, and I need to go local Fedex to return the proctor hoping that Bob's discounted furniture will finally get the refund back to me and stopped the drama! My husband and I made so many calls within these days, and we wasted so much time for this when the fault is totally the seller's since they first fails to ship out the product after 3 weeks and then cannot cancel the order before it ships and finally sets big obstacles for returning the product. What is funny is that, if you call them and pick "2" (which is our case), to ask about an existing order, you will be put in line and wait for no-one-knows low long to speak with the representative. But if you pick "3", showing that you are interested in a potential product, then they will pick up immediately. I tried that myself and I just cannot say how disappointed I am for Bob's discounted furniture to treat a customer like this -- before you pay, they are more than happy to assist; after you pay, now "all representatives are busy and you need to wait in line. More interesting is that, there is one time I am so done waiting for representative to pick up, I chose to hold my place in line and they will call me back. They did -- and I picked up immediately, and they put me waiting again for some time before I talk with a real person. Then what is the point for "holding place and called back" if I still have to wait anyway? Honestly including this time I have purchased 3 times from Bob's discounted furniture, and I liked their products. But I guess this time they really taught me a lesson -- they made the mistake first and then wasted my time and keep making promises that they cannot keep. So disappointed. I have been happy with Bob's discounted furniture until this returning experience. I have never even tried to spend so long time to write a review anywhere -- but I did this time, because Bob's discounted furniture wasted so much of my time than the time I spent writing...
Read moreUpdate: Bobs replaced my sectional sofa because it fell apart in less than one year. Coffee table broke earlier this month. Called claims. They blame manufacturer. Call factory, they blame me. Call Bobs because i paid extra warranty coverage. 5X trying to get my table fixed/replaced. Trash company, trash furnishings, trash warranty Buyer beware Everything looked great Nothing lasted one year Warranty is a scam, don't fall for it like I did. person at door , Maggie. Me: all three items in my online cart, stupidly wanted to see products before purchase, in store. From the moment we walked in she was on my tail. I know about her life....caus she never stops talking. Asked 3 times to give me time to look. She even tried to get me to change color on the table I came there to see. She asked me about financing and we let her know that I planned to pay on full, no financing needed. I purchased a couch, coffee table, and a side table. Again, I had already planned to purchase these items. Was asked 3 more X's about financing to get even more stuff. Payed extra for "white glove" delivery and warranty. One table came FedX and we had to assemble. No problem. It was damaged. Have pics. Next table and couch delivered, side table: damaged. It never entered my home. Couch, awesome. Big beautiful, put together by delivery guys who were awesome too. Told to call customer support: they open at 9am. It was 8:13am ... so.. waited, called, called the store, left messages. Maggie left message for me and added tables to an online cart for me since I would still need a coffee table. We spoke. Made appointment for next day at 11am to see my options and get directions on how to return the damaged table delivered by FedEx. No call. 2pm, text from Linda, store manager, that I needed to call customer support bc after delivery "they don't have anything to do with that". Only contact Maggie if I wanted to purchase additional items or wait 6-8 weeks for replacement on the one side table. I've spoken to 7 different reps, from all over the world, still have damaged coffee table, bc I NEEDED a coffee table. Local store won't assist me. I spent $2300 in 10 minutes. Easy sell/ commission. Disabled and unable to go in person. I feel I was taken advantage of. Beware! They do not care, they got the money. Tough cookies...
