Ulta Beauty — Local services in Bath Township

So I did a little social experiment of my own with this Ulta store after I noticed certain attitudes and habits with the staff. One day I went into the store with no makeup on. I was just wearing a hoodie and some old jeans. No one acknowledged my presence. I didn’t get a single hello, and none of the associates asked if I needed any help. I even said hello to one of the associates and she completely ignored me. I asked another associate a question about a product and she was completely dismissive of me. A couple days later, I went in with full make up, dressed nicely and was carrying my nicer handbag. I was immediately acknowledged and was asked by multiple associates if I needed help. One of the associates was very enthusiastic in their recommendations and was very friendly. This also happened to be the same associate that ignored me when I said hello to her. Most of the staff was the same as when I went in a couple days before. So it was very obvious that if you look the part, they will be more than eager to help you. I love their selection of items, but the staff definitely needs to be retrained on customer service. Just because someone is not “made up” doesn’t mean they are less deserving of services...

My absolute favorite Ulta location! As a stay at home mom that means my child is with me more often than not when I run errands, including going to Ulta. Even when this store is busy multiple team members not only stop to ask if I need help finding a product but also to interact with my daughter. It's an absolute delight to see, they've been this way since her first trip there at 12 weeks old. They're all very courteous, they get on her level to speak to her and I've even had team members ask to/put a little spot of highlighter on her nose(because what girl doesn't love to shine). Other than interacting well with even the smallest guest, I've never had a team member tell me "I don't know" which is great, I love that their crew is knowledgeable in all areas. I went into Ulta Beauty store 12-1-24 shopping for a new lipstick from Elf. I had a sales rep walking around the store with me helping look for the lipstick. We'll, when I walked out of the I was approached by three cops who were all in separate vehicles. They stated the cashier claimed I was shoplifting and I met the description of the shoplifter. I am guessing what I had in common with the shoplifter was that we both were black women. I explained to the police that I spend a lot of money in Ulta and I am in there all the time. They ran my license and let me go. But I am so humiliated and degraded by this experience. So, Ulta you loss a loyal customer for making a false accusations against me.
