I went with a group for a bachelorette fun day, and overall, I would recommend it. However I think there are a few things the staff could easily do to improve the experience.
The good: There were a ton of options for products you could make (bath stuff and candle/scent products) and also a ton of scent options. I am happy with my final product and overall it was a fun experience.
The bad: The instructions weren't very clear. For multiple people in my group, we thought we could experiment with the scent mixing before choosing our final mix. We did not realize that whatever we put in the beaker was the final option. That was never explicitly stated to us, so that seems like an easy fix on the part of the staff. I don't have an issue with not getting to experiment, but I definitely would have approached it differently if I had known.
Also, they use different measuring and stirring tools for the bath products vs. the scented ones, which again, is totally fine. For the bath products, you get a half size wooden popsicle stick, and for the candles, a spoon. My friend was doing a candle, and so received a spoon. She wanted to smell her mix on the wood, because it absorbs the smell more than metal does, and so she asked for a half size popsicle stick, and they refused her. I thought that was a bit extreme, those things have to cost pennies, just give her the dang half size popsicle stick if she asks for it!
I think the staff needs to have an alighment meeting, because not only were the instructions not totally clear, also different staff members told us different things. A few of us finished before the rest of our group and so were chatting. One staff member came by and let us know our products were done and we could check out, but that there was no rush and we could stick around as long as we liked. Then about 2 minutes later, a different staff member came by and told us our checkout was ready, and seemed surprised that we didn't jump up to check out (again, our group was still wrapping up). Then about 2 minutes later a third staffer came by and made us check out. Again, if they need to get us in and get us out, that is fine, but three people in 5 minutes telling us different things, soured the experience a little for me.
So overall a good experience, and the things that I didn't enjoy are easily fixed, so I hope the staff reads these reviews and makes these minor...
Read moreGreat fun. I had saved Rocky Creek Candle Company after seeing it on the Dallas Love List on social media. I came with a pair of friends and we made an afternoon of it. The staff were amazing. We were assisted by Sara(h) and Jasmine. They were incredibly helpful and drove the whole experience. In the end, I couldn’t decide on one project so I made two. My candle is Smoked Oud, leather and apple and it smells heavenly. I also created a car diffuser crafted with Swagger, Amber and Tobacco oils. Now my car smells amazing too. We will be back. I have already lined up outings with other friends and some family. If you get lucky at pick up, Joel will be there and he will teach you a lot about candles you may have never heard of before. I didn’t know, until this past Thursday (2/27/25) that you shouldn’t light a candle that is two years or more old. Thanks Joel, I have now purchased a warmer. Without giving this experience away. Go. Make a candle. Or a diffuser. Or body products. Have all the fun, name your product something that resonates with yourself then go again and bring more people. RCCC is a fantastic experience. Also this would be a really amazing...
Read moreI enjoyed the candle-making class on Satuday 5/3 at 2pm—it was fun to mix scents and create something personal. However, my candle ended up in the wrong container due to a staff mix-up. When I returned to clarify, the manager was initially defensive, raised her voice, and insisted it was impossible that happened which was uncomfortable. She eventually acknowledged the mistake and let us remake the candle, which we appreciated.
The staff offered little guidance during the process—no advice on scents or info about wax or oils, which I’ve received in other classes. We also realized later that my sister was supposed to pour the wax herself, something staff did for her the first time, which might have avoided the mix-up. When making the reservation, they said it took up to 2 hours to pick up, at the store they said 3 hours.
The manager offered to deliver the corrected candle since we live far, but it’s Thursday and we haven’t heard back yet. Overall, it was a decent experience, but better communication, costumer service and staff engagement would...
