I've heard a lot of hype surrounding this place, and unfortunately, I did not find it warranted.
First, though the line was (relatively) short when I arrived, there were two employees standing next to the vehicles in line and taking orders on tablets before the cars had even reached the menu board. This is fine in and of itself, but for someone like me who has never been there before and didn't know what they offer, it's extremely frustrating to not have any type of menu available to see.
The employee who assisted me asked a few questions and then rattled off a list of drinks and it was difficult in the moment to decide on something based on that. I asked to see the menu board and he followed me to the menu (since at that time, no one else was in front of me in line), but then he inexplicably stood directly in front of the menu so I couldn't see it and kept rattling off drink names. I settled abruptly on a buttery root beer drink. I'm not even a huge root beer fan, but got flustered. They really need to have a menu hanging off the tablets so the customers can see it like In-N-Out does, or at least a small laminated menu to hand the customer in their car.
When it comes to the drink itself, it literally tasted no different from any other standard root beer I've ever had. There was no "buttery" element to it at all that I could taste. I mean, there was nothing patently gross about it either, but why would I go to a special, dedicated soda stand for a normal root beer?
I'm sure my visit was probably an aberration since they're newly opened. Maybe the order taker wasn't well trained yet and maybe my drink was accidentally made incorrectly by an inexperienced soda artist (soda barista? I'm not sure what to call them). However, after this experience, I'm really not enthusiastic about giving them another chance...
Read moreNot impressed. For a first time experience, I was unfamiliar with the menu, but it felt like the order taker standing in the line thought I’d know what they had. Being a new place, I would ensure you treat all customers like they’ve never been there before so you can show them the ropes, especially if you can’t provide a menu when you’re taking orders. Ultimately, I was given the wrong order. The line is too long to go back and sit thru to request the right drink. Guess it was a little bit on me because I ordered the same two drinks and one looked way different from the other in color, which I could see when they handed to me, but hey what do I know it was my first experience! They should take a page from establishments that use a multi line systems, like chick-fil-a, and organize their line better after the order is taken. There was frustration and horn honking between two customers ahead of me fighting over who would go next when the lines merged. They were way too eager to be ahead of each other for something not really that good. I originally ordered two happy campers, a root beer based drink, and one was definitely that drink, but the other tasted like soda coffee, which wasn’t good. Would like to maybe give them another shot, but later after the initial “new place to try” feels like...
Read moreI just returned from this place. The reason I'm giving this 2 stars (less than average), is because with all of the extra added ingredients or flavors that are supposed to be in what I ordered, it literally tasted like a soda poured from the can. Huge line...wasn't worth the wait. Wasn't worth the hype. Wasn't worth the extra money spent, Wasn't special, other than the impression I was ordering something special that tasted the same as a regular soda. I ordered the Buttery Beer (which tasted just like pouring a root beer from a can), which was supposed to have butter flavoring and vanilla cream. They need to either put more of that stuff in or just call it root beer because I feel a little bit lied to, and they're just wasting ingredients. I also ordered the Naughty and Nice (Dr. Pepper, half and half and toffee flavor) Nope....tasted like a Dr. Pepper. Same thing. I will not be back. I could have gone to a different drive through, gotten the same tasting product and spent less time. I also could have made this same drink at home by just adding a few drops of toffee flavor and butter flavor in. Although it would make zero difference in taste. Less a star in an average 3 stars because I expected more than a...
