We decided to try a new seafood boil spot for our family dinner. There were 7 of us eating individually so we pre-ordered and prepaid on Friday July 1st for pickup on July 3rd. The ordering process went smoothly. The employees were polite. The food was ready at the time we arranged for. It was packaged together sturdily and our orders were prepared accurately .
I had the King Crab boil. I figured 1lb would be a small amount so I added 1/2 lb of headless shrimp and some boiled eggs. It was the perfect amount of food but be aware that my individual total was $90. The king crab boil alone was $65. Everything tasted really fresh, the crab legs were meaty, and the sauce and seasoning were the best I've tasted in a boil so far in my 32 years. I got the garlic butter and cajun mix with Medium spice. I love super spicy food but Medium was the perfect amount of heat.
The crawfish in the large seafood platter we ordered were DELICIOUS with the (mix em all) seasoning. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food EXCEPT my grandmother. She ordered the mussels and clams and there were mostly shells with NO MEAT! Her dissatisfaction increased when she returned to the restaurant with her bag and the employees told her there is nothing they could do about it. (They were still polite). Apparently they weigh the mussels and clams with the shell and cooking them shrinks them down to nothing. I would NOT recommend the mussels and clams alone. Overall I would recommend this place. (FYI The large seafood platter had the most food of the combos and was one of the cheapest items. I imagine this is due to inflation and I believe they use quality ingredients )
Update: I returned to John Seafood for a second time and they have increased their prices on some items. The large seafood platter is no longer $48 but now $65 or $68. The sauce still tasted really good and the platter was a lot of food for one person. Any more price changes will definitely slow their business. II understand seafood is expensive though and imagine it is because market price keeps increasing. I believe they use fresh fish/shellfish. (Which...
Read moreThe food was great but our waitress was very nasty toward me and my daughter’s on 2/17/25. I had already noticed her unpleasant attitude when I ask her for more ice because my tea was warm due to small amount of ice in my cup. She kind of use a little force when she grabbed my cup out my hand(strike one). I asked another waiter for a crab cracker to crack open the crab legs because my daughter’s and I ordered a seafood bag. The waiter told her who the cracker was for and this woman bypass us and went to another customer’s table and gave the cracker to him (strike two). What really raised red flags about this female waiter was after my daughter paid for our food using her debit card. She brought my daughter the receipt back continued to walk around taking care of other customers orders and needs. Then she comes back to our table and saw my daughter did not leave a tip amount so she picks up receipt and ask my daughter why she didn’t leave her a tip for her service. I was baffled and pissed the hell off at this moment. If she would’ve gave my daughter time she was going to give her a tip with cash and so was I, because we never tip anyone using our debit or credit card. I told the heifer my daughter is not required to give you a tip‼️ By this time I was very livid. The audacity of her to ask my child for a tip was very rude of her! I wish I would’ve gotten her name so I could warn the readers to be mindful and careful of her. I know everyone working instead that restaurant are family. and relatives. She looks to be around late 50 or 60 years old. Hair is black but not quite shoulder length. I will not be back ever again to dine there when I’m visiting Pensacola, Fl. And no we didn’t leave her a tip because that was strike...
Read moreTried this place while visiting. Older female owner gave me the wrong order which I didn’t realize until I had returned to my hotel. I called to inform them of their error and to let them know I was on my way to pickup the correct order. Once I arrived back to the establishment with what she gave me she questioned and made faces at the order which included crawfish that I did not order… umm ma’am where would I get crawfish from? Clearly, you messed up! She took the bag back taking the portion of the order that was correct as well as the incorrect portion. I asked for it back bc the correct part of the order does not need to go to the kitchen, she insisted on taking the while bag. This made no sense, take your crawfish back and give me what I paid for. After sitting there longer than I did the first time I simply asked for a refund for what we DID NOT receive and she said no, it couldn’t be done. I said but you are the owner, correct and she said yes. I said you can do whatever you want to do and this is poor customer service, I would like a refund for what I did not get. She again denied. I do not suggest this place to anyone. I asked her what she was going to do with the crawfish that I was given in error by her and she said, “ back in kitchen”! Gross! I had this food with me for about 40 minutes while I finished running errands and now someone else will be eating it! Totally, unprofessional I could have done anything to that bag and now it’s being...
