Going around to schools offering an overpriced rental program. For the cost of 2 and a half months of rental prices i bought it all off amazon. And it was for intermediate quality instrument while their giving starter quality. Major rip off stay away. The music book they were selling was half the price on amazon with free shipping. I get renting should cost more but not that much more. Greedy Update after reply. I did not have any needs for your services. I had it taken care of in may when he signed up for band. My problem is your getting the band to have a mandatory metting. We called to see what it was about to just be told its imporatant information we need and have to attend just to get there after leaving work early to attend to just have handed some papers to fill out my personal information. I ask what it is for and was told by your employee not to worry about anything just fill it out and turn it in and you all will take care of rest. It was a blank order form. To listen to the meeting for you all to make it sound like you have to do it. I was told by your staff my intrument is incorrect without seeing it and that i need to sign up for rental program. I stated it was brand new that i ordered it and stated i sell used instruments for 8 years now and was in band my whole life and know which to get and which to not. I was told at that point there is specific types picked out to work best in band and that i needed to sign up for your over priced rental program or pay it all in full to save 40 percent off rental to you. You all are scamming parents into over paying you. I was also told it covers repairs which is very rarely needed. I used the same instrument from 5th grade to 12th no repairs needed. A few kids that bought really old instruments needed new pads because they were already old when they got it and they played on them for years then. They usually only break from physical abuse. It is not needed. Send out a letter saying if you want to be ripped off but put zero effort into taking care of your kids intruments needed then attend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped by in the early afternoon on a whim. I havenāt played any instrument in over 10 years at this point. Lots of nice instruments on display. Staff was polite enough, but only seemed interested in pushing their in house financing. Overall I left feeling very confused about my experience in the store. I've visited many other music stores and never had an experience like Paige's.
Literally every instrument we talked about was presented in payments and I had to ask the cash price that then had to be looked up. Any attempt to price compare got one with cash price and the next instrument presented in payments. Just unnecessarily confusing.
Paige's does not sell used instruments, only refurbished instruments. They were unable to show me the refurbished saxophone we were discussing, but it was available for immediate purchase. I'm honestly lost on that last part still.
I ended up purchasing privately a Yamaha saxophone in very good condition for a third of Paige's refurbished price. Obviously no warranty or paperwork showing a recent service. I'm sure Paige's would have sold me a saxophone in tip top shape, but it's hard to justify triple the price when I can't even see the instrument prior to purchase.
My understanding is Paige's focuses on working with schools and providing rentals to students. I didn't know this when I stopped in. All I knew of them was the nice building I drive past on my way to work. What I've read online and on their website since my visit has made it obvious I'm not their intended customer. Which explains why the staff almost seemed confused by my presence.
That's the best way I can describe my experience. It was as if the people I spoke with genuinely wanted to help me, but they didn't know how to. They probably know a lot about instruments, but the way Paige's has structured their business has left them unable to handle a simple retail sale. I guess that's why I was the only customer in the store...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: Just called Paigeās music because on the 28th of August I requested that my starter kit money be refunded, as I wasnāt ok with Paigeās having any of my money. Just called back today 9/7/18 to be told that she never turned in my request, and that it would be next Wednesday before the check is issued. Beyond frustrated with my experience with Paigeās and will strongly urge anyone I know to utilize another company. If all you cared about was students access to music, you wouldnāt treat your potential customers this way.
Received a letter in the mail the day before my son was supposed to start band, informing me that due to my credit, we would need to speak about other payment options outside of their normal contract. I called right away and they were closed so I left a message with my phone number hoping to get a call back. I didnāt receive a call, so I called them. I asked the sales person if there was any way to ensure that he would have an instrument to start tomorrow morning I thought maybe I could drive to Indy or something, and was told very rudely that they tried to call and emailed me, and had I respsonded, they could have helped. I thought it odd and asked if there were instances where a person didnāt receive either form of communication, and I again got an attitude and told they reached out and wasnāt their fault. For a sales person, she was very unkind. She told me of the options when your credit was not good enough, but again told me there was nothing we could do regarding the fact that band starts this week. While Iām not expecting miracles, since it does start tomorrow morning, a little kindness and compassion would have gone a long way, rather than curtness and attitude. I will spend my money elsewhere, where I will not be spoken to in...
