After 1 bite, each, of the Drunken Chicken, Jambalaya, and Cajun-Buttered Baguette, I restrained myself so I could take a picture of my beautiful plate of food before it was gone, or so I thought. The portions "for one" were so huge that I had to take 1/3 of my meal home, a meal that cost $12, including two 1/2 entrees (called half-n-half), rice, 2 pieces of bread, a fountain drink!

I stopped in during lunch (12:30 pm) and was simultaneously please and dismayed that every table in the restaurant was full! I had wanted to dine in. Upon approaching the ordering counter, I was greeted by Eric, an employee who has worked for Yats for 13 years, 10 years at this location, and also received a shout out from the cook through the expo window. I told Eric it was my first time visiting any Yats, and although there was a queue building behind me, he greeted me like he was inviting me into his home. He explained to me that Yats is Cajun food with a Midwestern twist, which means not quite as much heat. But they had a serious hot sauce bar for those who wanted to bring the heat on their own. I thought, "Surely they don't greet and take this kind of time with every customer," but I was wrong. Eric sustained his Midwestern care for each customer, calling everyone by their first name, making everyone feel like they'd been friends for years.

After ordering, Eric asked if I wanted to eat there or take it to go, I glanced at the full dining room, saying I'd hoped to eat there, but ... and before I could finish, the cook had already rushed my steaming meal to a table, claiming a seat for me before it was snatched up.

After gathering a small assortment of hot sauces, I thoroughly enjoyed my delicious meal. The Drunken Chicken was flavorful and mild. The Jambalaya had a ton of flavor and enough heat to make my nose run a bit. The Jambalaya was a bit tangier than I was used to, but it was still delicious. The lightly toasted bread was soft on the inside, allowing it to hold a generous pool of rich Cajun butter.

Eric thanked me for coming before I left and reminded me that this location is the original and busiest Yats. I guess Yats has sold franchise rights, and the franchised locations don't always adhere to the same ideals as the original, family-owned locations. He specifically said you can expect continuity of quality and customer care at this location and in Carmel. I decided that I would make the drive to this location every time because it was that amazing.

I highly recommend this Yats location for its tasty, economical food and...

Visited today and food came out unusually fast, as in before I even sat down... It felt like it was yesterday's leftovers reheated. Serving portions were way off, as if they just eyeballed everything and slapped it on a plate. My jambalaya was 4x the serving size of other dish and tasted reheated. It was 90% rice and was swimming in vinegar laden sauce, it wasn't pleasant. Speaking of unpleasant things, the loud indie rock music being blasted from a laptop up above us was really loud and was an awkward mix of loud hipster trash mixed in with a few tracks that only left you wishing they didn't have such insufferable music taste. Best part of my visit was the guy at the counter sneezing and wiping his hands into his shirt in front of customers without washing them only being two feet from the counter. Gross. Off the clock staff came in to hang around in back looking just as unkempt and unwashed as the gross beards hanging over the food by the other hipsters in the kitchen. Overall the meal was awkward and I came to the realization the only real thing I enjoyed was the bread and the red...

When i first tried yats about 3 years ago, Boy it was a sensation. I haven't had any in a while- especially since the pandemic so I decided to treat myself to some on 7/10/21 at the fishers location. Previously I had only been to the carmel and HTC known as the noblesville location. Well, i purchased the half and half entree selection with extra bread for about $10.75. I had my former favorites; chicken Maque choux and chilli cheese Etouffee with crawfish. When i got home i thought the portions seemed to be a bit smaller 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️. I transered my food into a different container to reheat it. I had 3 oz of the entree and rice combined. There was a thin layer of the entree over the rice. I was slightly disappointed. The flavor of the dishes were not as robust or flavorful as they once had been. My tastebuds were not wowed like once before. Unfortunately, this will be my last time trying Yats. I will say that the customer service was swell👍🏽😊 at this location, actually all the locations that I have been to (as mentioned above) had great...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I came. I saw. I Yats’d.” If you haven’t been to Yats in Fishers yet, stop what you’re doing (unless you’re diffusing a bomb or holding a baby—then maybe finish that first) and GET THERE. I popped in for lunch expecting a casual bite. What I got was a full-blown flavor explosion that made my taste buds throw a Mardi Gras parade in my mouth. I ordered the [insert your favorite dish here] and immediately questioned every life decision that led me to eat sad desk salads in the past. The portions? Generous. The price? More reasonable than my toddler during nap time. The staff? Friendlier than your grandma after two glasses of sweet tea. It’s spicy. It’s savory. It’s soul-hugging. Yats is basically culinary therapy with rice. 10/10 would risk burning my mouth again because I couldn’t wait for it to cool down. Thank you, Yats Fishers. You’re the hero lunch never knew it needed. 🥄🔥🎉

First time trying this place. I had the red beans and rice the chili cheese souffle or something like that. Also with a side of gumbo. Now the food was just okay. I wouldn't call this creole style cooking. A lot of rice was added to the dish. For the gumbo the flavor just was not there. I guess my expectations were a little bit too high seeing how this is the Midwest. When you order gumbo you expect your taste buds to do a little dance. At least the Electric Slide. Unfortunately that was not my experience with Yates. Need more flavors in the food. If you're going to call this Creole cooking make it taste like Creole cooking. Might give this restaurant another try but maybe at a different location
