As far as I can recall, Fishology was the first place I ever ate a poke bowl at, and it still remains my favorite. For those wondering what a poke bowl is, a poke bowl is basically a sushi roll in a bowl. You get to pick your base, your proteins, your toppings, vegetables, etc. You only pay for a medium or large bow, and you get more scoops of protein with a large bowl. However, there are a few items that cost extra.
I've recently started the keto diet, and so my options for eating out aren't as abundant as they used to be. I'm sticking to meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. That being said, Fishology is a great option, if you are going that route with your diet. I always get the seaweed salad as my base, as opposed to rice. It costs more for the seaweed salad than the typical rice base, but it adds great flavor to the fish.
Fishology isn't allowing indoor seating at the moment, but there are plenty of tables outside. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, and the service there is really on point. For lack of a better term, your food goes through an assembly line, kind of like Subway. All the options are in front of you, behind glass, and you just tell them what you want on there. At the register, you can add a drink, desert or other items, if you wish.
Poke bowls are a tasty and healthy concept, and there are a ton of them all over the greater Sacramento area. I've tried several in Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, and Roseville, but this spot in Folsom remains my favorite. I think the options, price, quality of the fish, and the portion size make this my favorite poke bowl spot. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves sushi, but is looking for something low carb...
Read moreCame here when it first opened and visited once again after a few weeks, and the experience was as great as the last. As soon as you walk in you can see your options available. They have a variety of options for proteins, the type of base you want and an array of additions to choose from, and may I say, it's quite colorful. The prices are about what other poke places charge, however the amount of protein is slightly smaller than expected. This they completely make up for in the other selection you can add to your bowl. I do however prefer this place a lot more than the ones I've been to and it is a great addition to the city of Folsom. Fresh tasting proteins, a variety of sauces for every taste, and an abundance of colorful toppings to add to the mix. This is definitely a spot to try some poke if you're new to the concept or would prefer to skip sushi for the day.
Also I would like to add, the customer service here is quite...
Read moreI wanted to support local businesses in the Folsom area, but this spot is a true disappointment. A regular bowl with 3 scoops of protein costs $18, and a large bowl with 5 scoops costs $22. This is the most expensive poke I've ever had. With such high prices, I expected premium options like eel or avocado, but they don't have any of those. And it’s hard to comment on the freshness of the fish, at this point I just hope I don’t get food poisoning.
So, I did some research and found out that the most expensive poke bowl in the West Coast is the "Luxury Poke Bowl" at Sweetfin in Santa Monica, California. It costs $17.95 and features premium ingredients(According to ChatGpt) their BYOB large is $16.99, cheaper than Fishology’s regular bowl.
I...
