Easily some of the best Indian food you will find in all of California.

Quick reference review:

Any option you choose will taste amazing Price is perfect Try to dine in if you can Customer service is excellent Quick & Easy to get to (50 to E Bidwell in Folsom)

More in-depth review of why this place is great:

We ate there for the first time a few nights ago and the food was so delicious, we ordered take-out tonight to share with the rest of our family so they could experience it.

Out of the two times we’ve gone, this is what we have tried so far: Tandoori chicken Chicken curry Prawn Moilee Palak paneer Butter chicken Tikka masala paneer Baingan bharata Masala Dosa Garlic Naan Northern samosa

Every single item was amazing. I normally find myself gravitating towards my comfort choices, like butter chicken or saag paneer. But I would have been content with any item as my sole choice.

If you have the chance, I highly suggest dining there. It’s super clean, naan fresh out the oven is so worth it, and the staff is extremely inviting and helpful. They really want you to enjoy your choices and will guide you on your dining experience in a way that you usually only get at a really high end restaurant.

This will be our forever go-to going forward. Hope you get to experience it...

Customer service not good and staff disinterested and inflexible to accommodate even simple requests. There were 3 empty tables available but they refused to seat us there and instead wanted us to be seated in a table that was crammed right next to a buffet station with hardly any space to move or walk. We ultimately had no option but to walk out but they didn't seem to care anyway. People come in for a dine-in experience expecting good service and food but that seems to be too much to ask nowadays. Avoid this place if you can.

3/13: Your staff is obviously misrepresenting facts. The table given to us was very crammed with hardly any space to move so we REQUESTED to be seated at another available table. Its not like we just walked in and asked for a 6 seater table as you claim. In fact we tried sitting at a 2 seater one but that table was weak and shaking and your staff also saw that. There were three other 4 seater empty tables available on other side but your staff was just so adamant and refused to seat us there. I can understand if restaurant is full but that is not the case and table being reserved is an excuse as you were closing in 10 minutes and I have not seen anyone walking in. I hope your staff gets proper training in customer service and be accommodative...

We had bad experience related to behavior of the Indian lady who took our order. 1) After order she was purposely forcing us to order more like by giving different options.. cmon once No means always no. 2) we asked for other table and she refused said this is only option for 4 person table…however she assigned table we requested to other party of 4 who arrived after us. Give customer freedom to sit anywhere the want. 3) asked for Onion and Lime 3 times and received super small quantity after 80% dinner was over. It was not that busy on Sunday eve. You need to understand that you are running Indian restaurant and Indian foods are nothing without Onion and lime. 4) Instead of waiting I paid check payment over register managed by other attendant. But near the exit gate while leaving restaurant she asked us if our payment is done. Now that is an insult, instead of Good Nite greetings you are indirectly asking us if we are leaving table without paying for the food, really? Very unprofessional lady and I was in no mood to pay tip but was that would have been injustice to other employees who are working hard for this restaurant. Food was good that’s why one extra start but if behavior is not good by even one greedy and unprofessional employee then it soils the taste...

If you're looking for an unforgettable vegetarian dining experience in Folsom, look no further than Sanskrit - New Age Indian! Their veg thali is simply amazing. From the moment you sit down, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that immediately puts you at ease.Alex is an amazing waiter and provided amazing service! But it's the food that really steals the show. The thali is a delicious assortment of vegetarian dishes that showcase the best of Indian cuisine. From fragrant curries to crispy pakoras, each item is expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. And the portions are generous, so you'll leave feeling completely satisfied. One standout dish for me was the chana masala, which was rich and spicy with just the right amount of heat. And the naan bread was freshly baked and served piping hot - the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Overall, I highly recommend the veg thali at Sanskrit - New Age Indian. It's a true feast for the senses that will leave you feeling happy and satisfied. Plus, the service is top-notch and the prices are very reasonable. Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant!

My wife and I wanted to try this spot as I had read good things. It did not disappoint. The tandoori shrimp were cooked perfectly. The spices were dazzling yet not too hot. The mint/yogurt sauce added to the flavor while cooling things down a bit. We followed it up with the butter chicken and garlic naan. The naan was cut into quarters and served in a basket; a nice touch. It was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crispness/chewiness. The butter chicken was very rich but quite delicious. All of this paired perfectly with a Taj Mahal beer (light and dry.) Our service was great: attentive without being cumbersome. Also of note, our server was dressed impeccably (a nice change from most service these days.) We will definitely be back, as my wife says it's the best Indian food she's ever had.

One of a kind restaurant - both in terms of taste and service. Kudos to the owner - he was courteous and an extremely helpful person. We ordered idli Manchurian as starter - perfect texture, crisp on the outside and melt in mouth inside. They have a wide variety of dosas to choose from too - would highly recommend their vegan Andhra Karam dosa / uthappam. It's noteworthy that their chutneys aren't served refrigerated and are quite authentic. For dessert gajar ka halwa is one of the best in the business. It's served with ice cream and has a sweet grainy texture ( of carrots ), right crunch of cashews and the brilliant pop of raisins. Added to that the ice cream isn't extremely sugary. Overall would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in a mood for authentic tasty Indian food.
