Dollar General — Local services in Forest Hill

Live within walking distance of this facility. I've seen both good, bad, and worse even before COVID-19 and all that was affected afterwards. The reason I'm giving such a critical review is they wouldn't sell my husband cigarettes because of an expired drivers license. He's 51. Many rules have changed since I've worked at places that sold cigarettes. If an officer wouldn't issue a ticket based on the expiration date, because the DMV was shut down due to COVID, then why would a manager decide she wanted to make him wait ten minutes in front of a register at an empty store just to tell him that she can't sell him cigarettes because his driver's license wasn't valid due to the expiration date? I don't have one because I lost mine the other day or I would've just bought them for him instead of writing this review. A birth date should be the most important at the moment and not the expiration date. I can't believe she even decided to card him this time. Now that, in the middle of post COVID reopenings, he's rectifying his not valid situation.

Went in to dollar general to grab a couple items and The Young lady who was working the Cash Register proceeded to yell very loudly, “bring your items up to the register we close in 4 minutes, meanwhile it was 8:32PM 28 minutes to 9:00PM, a lot of customers already in the store were upset because she kept yelling, “we’re closing we’re closing” by the time I arrived to the register, she proceeds to tell me the system is down and I need to leave. I asked her when did it go down, because you were just yelling at everyone. She states “I don’t know who your trying to get an attitude with but I’m not the one” I thanked her anyways and returned my items to the shelf and she locked the door behind me! This employee was Irate and was extremely disrespectful and rude! She clearly wanted to go home and forced everyone out the store! This is a Business and I’m a Paying customer! If I owned this dollar general I would be highly upset at this employee! There was roughly about 6 paying customers in the store, as I sit here and right this review I’ve seen about 5 others try to go in dollar general as it states it closes at 9PM. A little cluttered. Trash in the floor. Friendly staff. The prices on dawn dish soap were not worth buying more. You pay less per ounce, if you buy the smallest....
