Jacob Engel’s conduct of Compass in Fort Lauderdale was unprofessional, arrogant, dismissive and dishonest. We did not feel he provided the value added that we would expect a professional to provide in order to service the explicit needs of his clients. The role of a real estate agent does not end with their client agreeing to buy a property. Their role is also to guide their client through to closing and be proactive and help their client to achieve their needs. We did not get anything of value from Jacob post the signing of our offer. Jacob was on holidays during the closing time but never informed us of this in advance nor did he have a replacement in place. He was basically absent during the days of the closing, and we had to communicate with the seller’s agent directly, since he was not available and did not respond to messages. The delayed signing caused by his absence was very damaging to us, but Jacob was never willing to admit he did anything wrong. The sales manager at Jacob’s brokerage, Compass in Fort Lauderdale, acknowledged that it was not appropriate for Jacob to be on holidays without notifying us but did not acknowledge the damage caused by his being absent. ...

We were not able to fly over to see any of the properties in person because of the world-wide pandemic, and Derek was willing to be our eyes as he walked us through several properties on facetime calls. Since he is knowledgeable of the different areas, and he really listens to his clients, he was able to find us a nice home in an area that fitted both of our needs and requirements (and our list wasn’t the shortest).

We recently had a very unfortunate experience with Compass real estate agent Jeffrey Corriolan. Before joining Compass, he was listing agent in the purchase of a property. Unfortunately, he intentionally misrepresented information about the property to expedite the sale. Years later, we're still dealing with the consequences of his deceptive actions. Despite our attempts to resolve these issues, Compass has been unresponsive and unwilling to take responsibility for their agent's misconduct. When we contacted Mr. Corriolan directly, he became aggressive and even threatened legal action to scare us away. It's disheartening to see a company like Compass turn a blind eye to such serious allegations. We urge potential homebuyers to be cautious and avoid working with Compass or Jeffrey Corriolan.
