When I walked by this place on my way to dinner at the Big City Tavern, I thought this is the place to go for dessert. I love ice cream and gelato and their's looked delicious.
This is one of those cases where I judged the book by its cover. I was able to try the different flavors and having just a taste was all I really should have had. I ordered a scoop of the tiramisu. It was really tasty as just a taste, but a full scoop? It was a bit icy. I've never had ice flakes in my gelato before and this was a first. And somehow, the taste decreased the more I ate it. It seemed to lose its flavor. I found that oddly disturbing. I had to throw it away after consuming only half of it.
I was told the following day that someone went there for coffee and a pastry. They served him his pastry and forgot his coffee. He just stood there waiting and when they asked him if he needed anything. He said, "how about my coffee." And they looked at him dumbfounded and were insistent that he didn't order any. He showed them his receipt and lo and behold, there was the coffee on his receipt. They then insisted that they made it and he drank it already. A manager had to step in to get the staff to give him his missing coffee. It was so dumb. Yet so was the gelato's diminishing flavor, but here we are.
Looks good, tastes meh. Service is spotty. Not worth it in my opinion....
Read moreI recently visited Gelato & Co., and while the gelato itself was fantastic, the overall experience was severely tainted by the staff. The employees were incredibly unwelcoming and rude, making it feel as though customers owe them something just for being there. Their negative attitude really kills the vibe and dampens any interest in enjoying the delicious gelato. This place could be so much better if they hired happy and welcoming people with good energy and a positive vibe. Unfortunately, as it stands, the staff's behavior makes it hard to want to return.
I strongly recommend the owners replace the current staff with more positive and engaging individuals. Many others have experienced the same issues, and it's surprising that the owners haven't taken action. As a regular customer, visiting at least once a week, I've noticed the same rude employees each time. Paying employees well and hiring happy, motivated people instead of seemingly depressed ones would make a huge difference in the...
Read moreWhat a horrendous experience. I’ve never had a similar experience like this ever at an ice cream shop ever. It was my first time there and I had never tried their ice cream so I was hesitant about the flavors. So I ask one employee/ sales woman to try one and I wasn’t a fan of that flavor so I asked to try a 2nd flavor when the girl deadpan tells me “you can only try 3.” The issue is not that they have this policy its how rudely this woman delivered that information that turned me off completely. Then the other employee/ sales woman instead of jumping in and smoothing out what happened, I explained what happened to her and she proceeded to double down and be even ruder if that’s possible. It was so unpleasant that I just turned around and left without purchasing any ice cream. I hope management can start filtering better who they hire and require manners and basic human kindness for their...
