I was looking to enter my daughter in gymnastics. This place is conveniently located to my home. I came in and found out that the gymnastics classes were full but they offered a hip hop/ballet/contemporary dance class. I was told I could register my daughter for that class while she's on a wait list for gymnastics. I was intructed to go online to register her for dance and place her on the wait list. I registered my baby for her dance class and placed her on the waiting list. She started to attend the dance classes, which she liked, however I didnt. First off let me say that the dance instructor, while extremely sweet (no complaints on her), has no real dance skills, it's more of a "My Gym" style class. No real technique being taught, just freestyle dance for fun and socializing. That's great if I have a toddler at home who needs socializing. But my daughter is 8. So despite me not liking the class and paying just as much as gymnastics, I left her in it because I knew at some point it will be time for her to switch over to Gymnastics. I went to the front desk, which was manned by a teenage boy, to confirm my daughter's name was on the wait list. He looked and didnt find her. Weird, because I did it online along with my registration ? I told him to put her name on it and he didn't have the knowledge to do it. Noone was around to help the kid put it in, so he wrote her name on a piece of paper and told me he would have someone do it for him. Ok, great! MONTHS later, I'm wondering where she is on the list, I go to the front desk and they notify me that she isn't on it! Excuse me? enter baffled face here So they managed to auto draft me once a month from my online registration but FAILED TO PUT MY DAUGHTER'S NAME ON THE WAITING LIST TWICE!?! I mean that is the reason why we ever stepped foot in the door. All the girl could do is apologize and offer to put her name at the bottom of the list. Umm no, cancel her current classes....
Read moreThe instructor was amazing very kind and makes the class fun. There's lots for the kids to do and several obstinate courses.
My daughter is 2yrs old on the phone I was told if she showed promise she would be moved to a 2.5 classroom when I showed up the lady at the front desk told me no that's not possible.
It was my daughters first class today, so I thought we’d see how it goes maybe she would be fine in the 2yr old class. She’s already running on the balance beams without holding onto me and is flying threw the courses. This gets frustrating because the other kids are doing amazing but at a different pace then her and patience only goes so far in a hour long class. She swings from the hand beams, jumps, does flips all of it all without instruction.
Then after the class I asked her instructor about how classes work she said the 2.5yr old class has a long wait list but she can most definitely do the summer classes for 3yr olds because she's ready!!
I try to sign her up and I was told again by the front desk lady that she absolutely had to be 3.
This makes no sense!! She's more then ready and only going to cause trouble for the younger kids. We will...
Read more3 stars for the coaching, 4 stars for the price, and 5 stars for the awesome young women!
Fort Lauderdale Stars Gymnastics is a dual-purpose facility. It contains a gymnastics gym and an akido dojo, for the martial artists among you South Floridians!
And while I've never given the dojo a try, I am already a little familiar with the gymnastics gym, having gone there before, way back in 2007 and 2008. And I'm glad to inform anyone listening which they have improved on the appearance of their facility since my last visit.
And pricing for the adult lessons remains the same as before. The one and only drawback preventing this place from gaining 5 stars out of me is the way the Tuesday evening lessons are conducted.
Instead of the coach guiding their adult students throughout the lesson, only the warmup is coordinated. After this, we're on our own. But if you have prior gymnastics experience from elsewhere, then you'll probably do fine. Otherwise, you might have to rely on a more experienced student if you're unsure of what to do or how to...
