I went into the Academy location in Fort Worth, TX located on Bryant Irvin and I-20 at the beginning of December of 2021 to purchase a firearm because i was going on a long road trip and wanted protection. I told the salesperson which one I wanted to look at so he let me look at the display first and I decided to go with it. When he brought me the box, it looked “off”. When he opened the box, it looked like the firearm had been used/returned. I asked him if the gun was a return or something and he assured me and told me that it was brand new. Jumping forward to several weeks later, I finally had time to go to a range and test out my “new” firearm but while I was at the range the gun did not function properly. Once I inserted the clip and was ready to fire, it didn’t fire. I had to pull the action back which of course made the ammo in the chamber pop out due to it loading new bullet. And on top of that it would only fire several rounds before it would stop firing on its own and had to repeat the process again….each time. I called the manufacturer of the firearm and they told me that it’s not supposed to operate that way. I explained to the customer rep about my situation with me being out of town and couldn’t ship it to them because they would return it to my home address and I needed it for travel. I told her my location and she told me that they had a repair facility a little bit over a hour drive. So I had to take time from my vacation to drive to the facility to have it repaired. When they fixed my firearm, they told me that had to replace parts. So to me it makes no sense that the firearm was brand new when I purchased it and the salesperson lied. I have my suspicions as to why he lied but at the end of the day, this Academy sold me a faulty firearm and thank goodness nothing happened to me on my drive or at the place I’m staying to when I had to protect myself and or loved ones. Be cautious when purchasing firearms from this location and double, triple check everything before you sign paperwork and...
Read moreMy recent visit to this store was nothing short of a disaster. If I could give it zero stars, I would. My wife and I, along with our four kids, spent over an hour in the store looking for work boots, and the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish.
First, not a single employee approached us to offer assistance during our visit, despite the fact that I clearly needed help. When I tried to find someone, the employees were either nowhere to be found or simply brushed me off with a promise to send help that never arrived. This forced me to climb onto shelves repeatedly just to reach the boots I wanted to try on—a task that should have been handled by the staff.
Adding to the frustration, the store itself was a complete mess. Every aisle we walked through had products scattered all over the floor, making it difficult to navigate. I had to stop multiple times to pick up items just to proceed down the aisles. It’s beyond me how this store allows such disarray to persist.
When we finally decided on a pair of boots and headed to the checkout, the ordeal continued. Out of the numerous registers available, only two were open, leading to long lines. Just as we were about to reach the front, one of the cashiers abruptly shut down their register and left, leaving us to wait even longer.
This store has gone downhill to the point that it’s become a miniature Walmart in terms of disorganization and lack of service. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Burleson location instead. This one is not worth your time...
Read moreThe last two times my husband was in this location (which he goes to 2-3 times a week) he was profiled and discriminated against. The first time an older sales associate (named Greg) decided to hover over him and walk up and down each aisle with him while he was looking at fishing lures. Greg proceeded to be very rude and disrespectful to the point where my husband brought this issue up to the supervisor in the fishing section who said Greg’s behavior would be addressed. Last night our whole family stopped in so my husband could purchase a new reel and once again the treatment was horrible. Dee was rude and completely unwilling to help when my husband asked to see the reels in the case. After he decided on one I asked Dee if we could purchase it at the fishing counter (there were other items we needed to look at for purchase) he said nothing and only pointed to the front registers. He walked our family up to the front and stood in the long line with us with the reel behind his back telling us this was “store protocol”. It was an embarrassing and degrading situation our family to be put in. We have purchased other reels from this store and not once have we ever been escorted up to the front register and had the store associate stand in line with us waiting to check out. Dee was more concerned about us than the fact that a guy walking out of the store with arms full of merchandise just set...
