I don’t normally leave long reviews, but Szechuan Restaurant Cityview absolutely deserves the recognition. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a subtle, elegant ambiance that makes it perfect for a casual lunch or a cozy date night. It's tucked into the Cityview area in Fort Worth, and if you haven’t been yet—consider this your sign to go.
Let’s talk food—because that’s where this place shines. The menu is an authentic tribute to traditional Szechuan cuisine. Every dish is crafted with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of heat to make your taste buds dance without overwhelming them. I highly recommend the Dry Fried Green Beans—perfectly blistered and loaded with umami. The Mapo Tofu is hands-down the best I’ve had outside of China. It’s silky, spicy, and packed with that deep, savory Szechuan flavor that keeps you going back for more.
Their Twice Cooked Pork and Dan Dan Noodles are must-orders too. The pork melts in your mouth with a smoky char, and the noodles are perfectly chewy, with a chili oil that’s aromatic and rich. If you like spicy food, this is paradise. If you don’t, they’ll gladly tone it down for you. The spice level is customizable, and the staff is always happy to explain dishes to make sure you’re comfortable.
Speaking of service, the team here is attentive and knowledgeable. They truly care about your dining experience and make great recommendations if you’re unfamiliar with the menu. They’re quick, friendly, and efficient without ever making you feel rushed.
Portions are generous, prices are fair, and you can taste the quality in every bite. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Szechuan Restaurant Cityview is consistently excellent.
To top it off, the restaurant is always spotless, with a calm, clean, and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of parking, easy to get to, and never a long wait—even during peak hours.
In a city full of dining options, Szechuan Restaurant Cityview is a standout. It’s authentic, flavorful, and run by people who clearly love what they do. Five stars all the way—I’ll be back...
Read moreHad to post this somewhat disappointing dinner. Sunday we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. We have frequented it weekly for several years. Always good food and service. Always 5 stars. This Sunday we went in, they weren't busy and we ordered our usual...hot and sour soup for me, wonton soup, 2 egg rolls, and mu shi chicken with fried rice. It took a long time but finally our egg rolls came out...very cold. Usually it's the soup to come out first. Immediately the mu shi chicken and fried rice came out...tepid not hot at all. We asked about the soup and the waitress looked at us like we surprised her. She asked if we still wanted the soup. We said no because the chicken would get colder. As she was leaving we asked for plates. She ACTUALLY asked us why we needed plates. She wasn't sure if we were both just going to eat off the same platter. We insisted on plates and she acted like it was strange for us to use plates. We NEVER had to ask for plates in the past. Plates usually come with dinner. Then we had to ask for a serving spoon. Once again she acted like we were asking for something unusual. The head waitress brought us the serving spoon and I had to mention to her that our dinner was a bit disappointing. She said that the waitress was new and actually defended the lack of soup, plates and serving spoon. I felt like she thought were being unreasonable. We are always patient with new wait staff. But cold food, no plates, no soup without an apology pissed me off a bit. Then the waitress sort of tossed the bill on the table and said "Sorry for the bad service," as she walked away. Everything in me wanted to leave no tip but we did leave the customary 20%...we usually tip more. If this was the first time we ate there I would not return but we have years of good experiences. Is it unreasonable to expect a plate and serving spoon? We will return because we're hoping this is a one...
Read moreI feel actually very let down and sad about this purchase. I ordered take out (Beef Lo Mein), and at first I hoped all the sauce had just drained to the bottom of the container because it was really dry and sticky and flavorless, but then I tried going to the bottom and mixing it around, and then I realized that there wasn’t any sauce at the bottom either. I don’t know if they just forgot sauce in general, but if they put it, there was barely any and I tried to eat it but I just tossed it out.
Then, I was charged about $5 more for vegetables which I was extremely confused about. I thought vegetables came in the meal (as most lo mein has some) so I wrote which ones I would would like/not like because I have allergies and I didn’t want them to include things I couldn’t eat, but didn’t know what came in it. Instead, I was charged more money and the food was added to my meal. I wish they would’ve reached out to me, as my contact information was all there. I’m genuinely very frustrated. I paid MUCH more than anticipated and was charged by surprise without being informed; it ended up being about 136% of the original price I anticipated paying, not including tip. I am sad, as I was very excited for a nice treat on a chilly day, and I ended up not only hating it and not eating much of it at all, but paying much more than I had budgeted out for my daily budget (I’m a student so I have to be very careful with my money and purchases). Now I have to use MORE money today to make/get new food because I’m still very hungry. I’m just really sad and disappointed and feel like I’ve...
