Buyer BEWARE of the 3% credit card charge for returned items! Because the owners are using a card processing company that keeps the merchant transaction fee on returned items, this shop was not going to refund my full purchase amount. That's odd, given that before my original purchase I specifically asked if there were any fees for using a credit card or if she'd prefer cash. She said any payment type was OK. She also confirmed that I'd get a full refund on a return, not just a store credit. Three days later when my wife wanted to return the gift I'd bought, the owner asked her if it was OK to keep the 3% processing fee. My wife said "NO", but was not refunded our full purchase amount on that visit. I had a phone conversation with the owner and she offered to buy me an ice cream cone from the shop next door, but I said I'd like the 3% fee refunded, as she had confirmed during my purchase. 48 hours passed and no refund on our credit card, and no reply or confirmation to the text message I'd left. I had to call Chase Card customer service and get the remaining 3% refunded for our returned merchandise. As a previous customer of this shop and a local resident, I make an effort to support local businesses (rather than Walmart or Amazon) because they are part of our community. This sad experience will not dissuade me from continuing...
Read moreI’ve always loved Bears Den. In fact, a few years ago I donated some wood burned lazy Susan’s. Yesterday, however, (12/20/20) I was dismayed to hear that they don’t believe in masks. I was shopping for quite a while and did hear the person behind the counter coughing but thought nothing of it as I was masked and assumed she was too. I didn’t directly look at her when I walked in. 20 mins into shopping I noticed she didn’t have a mask. She mentioned that she believes we just need to all get it and get over it. Unfortunately, if I get it, I have friends on Chemo and family member with diabetes. I would hate for them to die of Covid just so I can get it and get over it. Please be careful out there. Just writing this so you can protect yourselves if you...
