I stayed in Phoenix #207 with my three sons (teen/young adult). The location for skiing convenience really can’t be beat. When we’ve stayed other places in Steamboat, the skier drop-off was farther from the gondola than Phoenix. Very easily walk to the Gondola Square, with not only the ski lifts but also all of the restaurants and apres ski choices. All but the very youngest children will be able to carry their skis the distance to the gondola. We booked through Steamboatrbo.com, and Grey Schuhmacher there was extremely helpful with getting us discounted lift tickets and discounted airport shuttle. These units are rental by owner, so it’s possible other units are different than the one we stayed in.||Pros: 1. Location, as above. Half a block from a small grocery store, just steps to dining, etc. This particular unit is right next to the clubhouse (fitness center, pool table, etc) and 20 steps from the (shared) hot tub and pool. 15 steps to the gas grill and picnic table.|2. Thoughtful amenities by the host/owner. A humidifier and fan (great for white noise) in the bedrooms. Free parking (a scarcity in Steamboat), including a single-car garage where you can conveniently leave all your ski equipment. Kitchen reasonably stocked with all the basics. Washer/dryer. Clean, tastefully decorated, pleasant living room area. Comfortable beds. 2 full bathrooms.|3. I can’t say enough about the convenient FREE shuttle the Phoenix provides. Call the number and they will drive you to anywhere in Steamboat, then come and pick you up. We did not need a car, and easily went downtown for dinner, to the large City Market grocery store, etc. We used it a ton. All the drivers were pleasant and the shuttle van is very comfortable.||Cons: The only drawback to the location is that, obviously, you are in the middle of everything. This is not the place to stay to “get away from it all.” The hot tub and pool were never crowded when we were in there, but there are other residents coming and going. The walls are not very well-insulated and unfortunately there was a family either above us or next door to us that was a bit loud at times. They had a dog that whined at 4 am one night. The white noise from the fan helped, but it would be possible to have inconsiderate neighbors that would detract from the experience. There was only one night we were bothered, so we didn’t complain, and I can’t comment on how responsive management would be.||Despite the cons, I would definitely consider staying here again. It is a comfortable unit and the...
Read moreWe stayed in Unit 220. The unit appears to have been furnished by the salvation army when the building was first built a few decades ago. The sofa is worn so the pattern is no longer visible and in many areas you can see the stuffing. I had to put a blanket over it. The same goes for the side chair which not only was scraped and worn in all places with the seat itself completely broken. The table is so scratched it wouldn't even be acceptable in a college dorm. The kitchen smelled heavily of fish. There was little bedding but plentiful old comforters in torn trash bags in every closet. The lamp shade in the master was slashed. The lamp in the living room was bent at a 30 degree angle. The TV was an old tube TV. The bedrooms were decent but much of the bedding appeared stained and it was clear the comforters did not get washed. The master was very dark even during the day. We had to use our phone flashlight to get dressed.|I asked for a transfer immediately making it clear this was unacceptable. I spoke to the front desk who was indifferent, the local Vacasa rep and the national rep. I sent pictures and spent hours on the phone along with text messages and an email. Making this process difficult was the poor cell phone reception. No one responded until after we left saying they would contact the local office. That was the only correspondence I ever received. We spent over 10,000 dollars on this week which could have refurnished this entire unit.... So much wasted potential. I feel incredibly cheated. I have never complained about a unit nor written such a review, but I felt compelled to save the next renter.||On a positive note, the property itself was reasonable with great proximity to the slopes and restaurants. There was a small game room with a pool table and coffee as well as a sauna, pool and jacuzzi the kids enjoyed. There is a tiny hill the kids used to sled behind the pool. The shuttle service was also nice. ||I added photos linked to the property with...
Read moreThe outside of the building looks nice, clean and updated. Walking in to the living room, it gave you a nice first impression, however staying there just one night changed that. The entire unit (with the exception of one bathroom) is very out of date, which gives it a not-so-clean feeling. The kitchen was not well stocked with cooking supplies, such as one mixing bowl and a pan that is so ruined with residue of cooking sprays that everything sticks to it and the dishwasher isn’t even bolted in place so when you open the door the whole things pulls forward. The extra “apartment” on the main level is where we stayed. The first night we needed extra blankets so we pulled them out, one had an orange stain on it and the other had some dried, crusty thing stuck to it. The toilet is so old that the coloring is coming off of the seat cover, the shower nozzle does not spray on you it gets more of the walls and you can’t adjust it, the front piece that says “hot or cold” fell right out the first time we used it, the 2nd night the tub wouldn’t drain, the bed was thin and hard as a rock and the blinds were broken and we had to hang a comforter to block out the patio door window. That being said, it is a...
